Bondage Shoes - Love them or Hate them?

The bondage shoe trend started with Gwyneth Paltrow, who wore a pair of Givenchy dominatrix booties to an event in New York. The trend gained steam with the release of the Sex & The City movie, where Christian Dior's Extreme Gladiator sandals made an appearance on Carrie Bradshaw's feet. That spawned tons of strappy, buckled, black leather knockoffs from retailers like Victoria's Secret and Steve Madden.

Personally, I'm not a fan. They look fine on models, but terrible on most normal women. Ankle straps always make your legs look shorter, and in the case of the bondage shoe, they make your legs look 4 inches shorter. Totally impractical. What do you think? Would you wear them?

Looks good in sets, but I don`t own a pair and I never will. I can`t walk in heels that high, and walking is what you need shoes for. This goes for many other shoes too for my part. :)

I have a pair with a 4.5 inch heel and they make me look super tall. :)

I love this type of design, and they are really sexy. However, I am into the whole, sort of extreme dark look. Some of these styles of heels look gothic, and others look more industrial and futuristic. There are so many types to choose from, which can be overwhelming, at times. They are perfect for women that want to make a bold statement, without having to go overboard with the entire ensemble. If you really love this style, and want to give the illusion of long legs, just wear them with jeans.

I think they make a simple, floatly or flowing dress look weird with how chunky they look.
I would personally never wear them, because you have to like, be able to style your outfit around them, which I don't do. I just chuck on shoes after I've decided on my outfit.

I actually would love to wear these! The only thing that would prevent me is that they might be a little too sexy for my taste. Otherwise, let's rock 'em! :)

I think they are gorgeous, it is just a matter of being able to walk in the really tall pairs!

I own two, one I wear at home ;) and a bit lower pair for going out..

I can't stand the thought of wearing them. They are just not my style at all, yucky. It is strange that I really think they look cool in a set though.:-)

I really love the look at models. But i mean get real no normal person could put these off. I think their just a little extreme in all areas.

I agree with you.personally,I think they are pretty ugly/

I think they're horrible! They're good on Polyvore but not for real life, everyday wear.

Those shoes are not good! Would never wear them.

These shoes look more like they are part of a costume than an every day item. They are too theatrical and over the top for anything more than a fashion show, or play.
Frankly I think they look trashy when worn by the general public.

i think they look cool in sets and are pretety modern-looking but it's really ironic how it's popular when it makes your legs look shorter...which is opposite the whole point of heels....weird

I recently had a chance to try heel straps, and I have to tell you - these are truly awesome! I got the clear ones, along with black, and knew the moment I slipped them on I loved them. We can’t wear Mary Janes all the time, and slides/mules are challenging on stairs. I’ve even made passed on shoes I really liked thinking “…too bad it doesn’t have some kind of strap at the top”. No longer a worry!

many things look good with sets (like these shoes) but they would be something someone very daring would where. it would be hard to where them with things, and could be a waste of money. Personally, I would not buy them, unless the future withholds dark styles.
lol

I love them but alas I am too tall to wear any type of heels, ever :(

I think that they can be worn in real life. It just depends on the style of the individual. If your outrageous and eccentric, then these will be perfect, but if your obsessed with brands like Abercrombie, which breathes no creativity, then this style of shoe is obviously not for that audience.

LOVE those shoes. HELL YES.

I'd wear them under wide legged pants. I agree--they make your legs look four inches shorter. They do have an aspect of chic though
