Blogging Polyvore

It's cool how Polyvore finds it's way onto other sites, especially when bloggers regularly use it as a tool to add visual interest to their posts. Here are a couple blogs I came across recently that put our "Embed" link to good use:

  • The Style Observer uses Polyvore for fashion advice, moodboards and inspirational style critiques.

  • Lesley Scott over at Fashiontribes uses Polyvore to put together collages that meld fashion, art and lifestyle. (Check out her recent post on Spring Must-Haves)

  • HeyBigTrender writes The Fresh. The Fashionable. The Talented., an entire blog dedicated to finding the latest talent on Polyvore.

  • D & F of Paraguay features many sets in posts on the D&F blog, about "styles of life, attitudes and tastes."

Email Updates

Receive email updates from Polyvore! Our new Recent Activity emails will let you know when you have new contacts, comments, favorites, or other site activity.

To let us know how often you'd like to receive emails from us, simply go to your "Edit Account" page, and set your preference.

New on Polyvore

Today we're very excited to launch some new features on Polyvore that we hope you'll be excited about, too!

First, you'll notice some new visual styling on the site, including some color and layout changes. We went through each page, making it fresher, cleaner, and a little cuter, too. Polyvore has looked pretty much the same since it launched a year ago, so we definitely felt it was time for an update :)

Second, we've now created separate pages for editing your profile and editing your account. On the "Edit profile" page, you can do all the things you could do before - including setting a buddy icon, sharing your website address, and describing yourself - and you can now also share your occupation, too!

On the "Edit account" page, you can change your email address and password, as well as control when to receive email updates from Polyvore. Both of these links are now available on your profile page.

And last, but certainly not least, we now have BADGES! Since many of you have blogs or websites of your own, we thought this would be a great way for you to share your love of Polyvore with your friends. We've created several versions for you to choose from, including two dynamic badges that change based on your Polyvore activity:

The first is a color badge, which shows up to 100 color strips based on your latest sets or latest items. The second is a swatches badge, which shows up to 20 swatches from your most recent items. Each of these badges will update automatically on your site as you create sets or import new items. So, customize them, copy the code and put them on your website today!

As always, we're very interested in your feedback. Let us know what you think by sending an email to feedback [at] polyvore [dot] com.

Happy creating!!

The Fashion Trendsetter is a great eZine that lets you know what the latest trends are in style and color, while also forecasting what the future trends will be. One of their recent articles about Spring/Summer 2009 Trends provides some insight into what colors we'll be wearing a year from now. Hey, it's never too early to start working on your wardrobe :)

Interior Design

Polyvore is now officially home to the products of Design Within Reach, the modern furniture store that has most of us wishing we had more rooms to re-decorate. Combine their products with any number of other furniture or home decor products on Polyvore, and you've got enough stuff to fill a mansion. But in lieu of bigger house, you can always create more sets! Here are some interior designs that might inspire you:

Fashion Challenges

Polyvore isn't the only place to find a fashion contest! Several members use Polyvore within their own forums to run contests - challenging you to create your entry around particular themes or using a specific item.

The Polyvore Forum runs Fashionista Contests for people who want to get some feedback on their sets. Their current contest is focused on trying to make this Rainbow Check Cover-up from TopShop work:

The forums over at Makeup Talk have their own version - Fashion FaceOffs focused around coordinating trendy items, like their latest contest featuring these Steve Madden pumps:

One Million Items!

It's hard to believe, but sometime last night the one millionth item was imported to Polyvore!

The lucky item is a Mystery Girl, Carmen San Diego t-shirt from 80stees.com, and was clipped by stars and candy cat. How exciting!

Now with over one million items in Polyvore (and counting), creating sets should be that much more fun and creative. And, speaking of sets, the number of sets created is quickly approaching one million as well :)
