We love learning about the cool things Polyvore members are doing within their groups and blogs.●Tamaira♥G● recently hosted a unique contest on her blog, Polywhore, so we invited her to share it with all of you! When I first came to Polyvore several months ago, one of the first things to catch my attention were the contests. Not because I was obsessed with the idea of winning but mainly because I love a challenge. But after a few weeks of doing several different contests I realized I wasn't really getting the challenges I was looking for....so I started my own group determined to make really challenging and interesting contests. It wasn't until I was sitting at home watching "Project Runway" that I realized exactly what I wanted to do. And that's how "Polyvore's Next Top Set" came to be.
If you've ever watched "Project Runway" or "America's Next Top Model" or any of those types of competition shows, you know that a group is chosen to compete each week in a new challenge. After that challenge someone is eliminated until there is only one remaining contestant, which is of course the winner of that season. I followed basically the same rules. Each week I presented a new challenge - everything from fashion to art sets to interior sets were used. The main goal was to find a winner in all categories, the best overall collager...not necessarily the best artist or fashion diva. Each contest we eliminated one person until we were done.
This first "season," as I like to call it, we started out with about 150-200 entries which I narrowed down to 12 finalists. There were 10 rounds total.
The winner of this first season was
hellocrystal. Here are her sets from each round:
I don't really know when I'll start Season2 - but I am currently taking a break and starting up group wide contests again. If you'd like to participate, you can join my group
Polyvore Ala Carte because most of the contest info will be announced there. You can also keep an eye on my blog,
Polywhore. I'd be happy to answer any and all questions that people may have, feel free to PM me anytime. It was an awesome experience, much better than I anticipated and I'm very excited to do it again.
A big thank you to Polyvore for letting me tell everyone about this awesome challenge! I hope to see everyone for Season 2!
