Interview with TheStrawberryFields

Today's interview is with TheStrawberryFields. This 22-year old has a grand eye for styling, and we absolutely love her taste in shoes! ;) She makes putting fashionable attire together seem so effortless. She also has a good amount of contests wins to her name. Come meet TheStrawberryFields...

Here are some of her sets:

Tell us about yourself.

I'm Collette and I'm 22 from Scotland. At the moment I'm studying for an ECDL advanced course, so hopefully when I pass my modules I can get a career in Administration or Reception. I'm thinking I want to become a PA for a director of a company or possibly a PA for doctors or managers in hospitals as I already work in a hospital and I really enjoy the environment.
My time is spent with my lovely boyfriend, Barry. We love going on holidays and generally chilling out to some DVDs or going out for meals. He's rather enthusiastic about my interest in fashion and he certainly encourages it. I'm lucky hehe.

Describe your sense of style/fashion.

At the moment I'm really loving dresses combined with boots. One of my recent sets "Just me" is of a similar style to what I'm wearing just now. Other than dresses, you can probably find me in skinny jeans with a vest top and little necklaces. I love scarves as well and they can really change an outfit. Generally I go for the more relaxed laid back looks like cardigans and ballet pumps. I have a laid back style that is more simple than overly fussy. To be honest, I wouldn't say I'm a hugely fashionable person. When I go to parties I do like to buy a new dress and wear some heels, accessorized with just some cute bangles and earrings. But overall, my look is quite simple.

How did you discover Polyvore?

I was a member of another fashion site called FashMatch.com and when that shut down a lot of the girls were coming to Polyvore. So I joined up.

Tell us a little about what you use Polyvore for and why. What do you like about Polyvore?

I love Polyvore as a place to completely chill out. I like just experimenting with ideas that I have.
If I had the money I would probably buy most of the clothes I use in my sets.
Polyvore is a great place to go to if you need a little inspiration for something. For example. my latest set is of a Kate Moss dress I want to buy I just wasn't sure what would go with it. But I picked some things out and they looked good. It's certainly a place to go for advice, as well. I've been applying for jobs lately, so I'll be using Polyvore to see what the girls think of my interview outfits. I think Polyvore for me has widened my ideas of fashion, what I can wear and experimenting with colours and patterns. Seeing your ideas in front of you certainly gives you a boost in confidence to go for it. It's also got a lot of talented lovely girls on it as well, who you know will tell you the truth.

Describe your set creation process. Where do you get inspiration for your sets? How do you pick a theme? How do you find your items?

Sometimes an item will just pop out at me and I instantly have an idea of whats going to go with it and the colours. Then as I start making it I might see other things to put in to the set, such as items of a different colour or using writing or frames (which I'm obsessed with at the moment.)
My sets at times will generally have a little pop of colour in them, it's simple but a little bit different. I go through phases...one phase was pretty dresses with boots, another was actress icons with frames and designer dresses. Other times if I'm entering a contest I'll try stick to what the contest is about whilst adding my own touch. I like simplicity with a little bit of edge whether it's an interesting bag or a chunky necklace. I love vintage and vintage-inspired dresses and necklaces. I like sets that have an old look to them but have got a bit of a modern touch to them, as well. I don't generally ever have a theme, it's more of just what I feel like using at that very moment.

What are your favorite designers and online stores to clip products from?

I absolutely love La Garconne. I had never heard of it until I started using Polyvore. They have that laid back effortless look to the clothes they sells, which is kind of my style (though my style doesn't look effortless hehe.) Another place I wish I could buy from is Eruca.jp. Again, it has a laid back look which is chic and eye-catching but their clothes are not fussy. I love Topshop... it's affordable and a shop I buy from a lot. I love Betsey Johnson, too. Her clothes and shoes are a lot of fun.

What are your 3 favorite sets of the ones you've made?

My first contest win and a set I worked so hard on. It came together so well, and it's something you would look twice at.

My first proper full on classy glam set, and it's for my mum. She loves 'Gone with the Wind' and I loved watching it when I was younger.

I love stripes, they can look so good. Plus it has my splash of colour in it which I love to use.

Got any feature requests for the Polyvore team?

Just keep up the good work.
