Here are some of her sets:
Tell us about yourself.
I’m lovelierlala or lala, whatever you want to call me. I live in the Netherlands and I’m 23 years old. At the moment I’m finishing my Masters degree in American Studies and I’m in the process of writing a thesis on celebrity culture. This means my main interests are in the cultural field of American studies. Don’t know what I want to do in the near future to be honest.
Describe your sense of style/fashion.
My style is quite simple. I’m a tee and jeans kind of girl, but in a fashionable manner. When the weather allows it I love to wear skirts and dresses that show my legs. I think my sets represent what I would want to wear if I had the money (yet, the main outfits often do represent what I actually wear). I love to have my shoes and bags to be the statement pieces of an outfit, but in real life that’s quite an expensive venture.
Are there any cool trends you've been seeing in the Netherlands right now?
We’re not really exciting, fashion-wise. But I think the younger generation is definitely working on that. What you see in the Netherlands a lot are boots, because of the weather and all. My niece from Canada was very excited to see all the different boots in the stores (she’s a real shoe-aholic). But I think blazers are going to be a hit this fall. And we are a bunch of scarf- wearing people, even if we’re wearing tank tops (I don’t do that though, because I don’t get it).
Uhm…let me think. Oh, yes I remember there was this weekly “competition” on the blog Shoewawa which I loved. You were supposed to create an outfit around a shoe they picked. I started out using Photoshop, but then some of the others were using this online program “Polyvore.” I checked it out a couple of times and I was hooked :D haha.
Tell us a little about what you use Polyvore for and why. What do
you like about Polyvore?
I use it as a creative outlet, as well as a substitute for fashion magazines. I was always mainly interested in the “outfits for less” or “how to create 5 looks with 5 items” sections in magazines where they put outfits together, much like what I do on Polyvore. That’s why I mostly limit myself to outfits only, because that’s my thing.
for your sets? How do you pick a theme? How do you find your items?
I mostly search or find one piece I really like. In my latest set that was the Rag & Bone Smith Silk Tee, I love its color. I don’t really do themes (unless it’s for a contest/competition), but even then a theme is often given to me. I usually go to my favorite stores I like to clip from, or simply search on Polyvore what I’m looking for. I also love lingerie, that’s really something I made my own. There are sets that have been created around lingerie.
I love generalpants.com.au which is more street wear style. I also like to clip from Browns Fashion, La Garçonne and Pret A Portobello. My latest addiction is Balmain jeans/pants and I love lingerie from journelle.com.
What are your 3 favorite sets of the ones you've made?
It’s not my normal style for a set, so I was really surprised that I made it work. That’s why I like this one a lot.
I like the layout a lot and this shows what I was talking about before: simple outfit, statement bag and shoes. I love the pop of color in this set.
It’s so difficult to choose three…I don’t really have particular favorites. However, I’m very proud of my “fabulous duo.” So the third set I chose is:
I've arranged for the dresses, so all we need are some killer heels, right? by lovelierlala on Polyvore.com
Got any feature requests for the Polyvore team?
I still want a color search option in “my items,” to be honest. A rotating tool would be cool also, especially since I can no longer clip items I rotated on my laptop and uploaded to Photobucket. But that’s really just stuff I can also live without.
