Interview with A is for ALISON!

Today's interview is with A is for ALISON! She's a fashion lover from Chile and we're in love with her sense of Polyvore style. Alison incorporates vintage, boho and eclectic elements in her sets and she pieces her outfits together flawlessly.

Here are some of her sets:

Tell us about yourself.

Hey, hello! My name is Alison but my friends call me Ali. I’m eighteen and I’m from Chile, a lovely country at the end of the world, haha. I’ve just finished school and now I'm taking a break. I love fashion, that’s kinda obvious, but also I love photography. I'm not a professional photographer yet, but someday I will be, I hope.

I love to hang out with my friends, they mean the world to me. But I spend most of my free time here on the internet, writing on my blog, reading other people’s blogs and creating awesome sets on Polyvore. I can’t imagine my life without a computer; I’m a geek, a nerdy girl but pretty cool after all.

Describe your sense of style/fashion.

My sense of fashion is pretty different than what's reflected in my sets. I love simplicity --I’m a jeans girl. I love to wear jeans, cute tops and oversized cardigans. I always try to mix fashion items of the moment with my own style. I love to wear a lot of black, white and grey but give the look a twist with an accessory, like a scarf, a cute necklace or an awesome bag or a touch of another color. But I always trying to keep it simple.

Are there any particular fashion trends that you've been seeing people wear in Chile right now?

Most of the people here in Chile are not very trendy or interested in fashion, but the people who care about it (at least where I live) are wearing a lot of tartan (plaid). I could say that tartan is the fashion trend of the moment here, also fedoras, Montgomery’s, oxford shoes and clothes from second-hand stores. But there's only a small minority of 'stylish ones' who wears stuff like that. The mainstream crowd wears wayfarers, skinny jeans, sneakers (always) and hoodies.

How did you discover Polyvore?

I discovered Polyvore through Facebook. At first, I didn’t understand what it was, but then when it began to make sense to me, I loved it! And now I can’t stop playing on Polyvore, this website is awesome!

Tell us a little about what you use Polyvore for and why. What do you like about Polyvore?

I mostly use Polyvore to look at different clothes, styles and trends of the moment. I love the fact that you can learn about what's trendy in other countries and other people's sense of fashion, different styles and tastes in clothing. How they mix the fashion and their own style and stuff like that.

Describe your set creation process. Where do you get inspiration for your sets? How do you pick a theme? How do you find your items

That’s a hard question, it takes me like 10 minutes to make an outfit. Sometimes I think about prototypes like “the punk girl” and stuff, other times I get inspired by a single item, contest themes or music lyrics. But most of the time my inspirations are TV characters, models or singers, and then I start to look around and find the perfect match, trying to make a cute set, nothing too “over prepared” -- always simple. Then I'll ask my friends for their opinions on whether I should publiush them or not.

What are your favorite online stores and brands you like to clip products from?

My favorite is Topshop, I love that store! Most of my clothes (in real life) are from Topshop. But also I love La Garconne, YesStyle and Eruca. Most of their clothes are just perfect, I love them I just wish they were mine!!! Hahaha!

What are your 3 favorite sets of the ones you've made?

Got any feature requests for the Polyvore team?

Nope, you guys are doing a great job, everything is perfect at the moment. But if I have any future requests, I'll let you know! Congrats on the website and thanks for providing such an awesome place for us!
