Interview with chanel.vuitton.mcqueen.laurent

Who said Polyvore was strictly a woman's world? Today we're interviewing chanel.vuitton.mcqueen.laurent who also happens to be a male Polyvorian! Sure, he may be styling outfits for women, but boy (pun-intended) does he have an eye for it! We're in love with his vibrant and loud sets that ooze with accessories!

Here are some of his sets:

Tell us about yourself.

Well to start, my name is Jose Holguin. I live in an unknown place in Florida called Apopka. Lol, Google that...it does exist! But I was born in Flushing Queens, New York. I'm 15 years old. Lady Gaga is a huge inspiration for me, she inspires me to think twice about what fashion is and think about different ways to look at clothes. I'm kinda openly gay, but hopefully everyone will know now.

How would you describe your sense of style?

My fashion sense is very "New York Street Style" (like the male version of Alexa Chung without the accent). I rarely or almost never dress for comfort (ouch!) Comfort is just icing on the cake to me.

What's hot in Apopka right now?

What's "IN" in Apopka is plaid anything (which I'm guilty for using) and strangely, moccasins!

What's one thing you wish people would wear more of?

I wish people would wear more strange rare accessories like the famous Lady Gaga crystal sunglasses she wears on The Fame album cover.

How did you discover Polyvore?

I discovered my addiction to Polyvore through Google!

Tell us a little about what you use Polyvore for and why. What do you like about Polyvore?

I use Polyvore to express how I feel each day. For example, some people write down their problems, ideas and thoughts but my creativity comes out through fashion! I also like to enter contests in hopes of winning so that I can show my mom that I really do have a talent for fashion. What I like about Polyvore is the love the members give to each other by liking sets and commenting!

Describe your set creation process. Where do you get inspiration for your sets? How do you pick a theme? How do you find your items?

When I start on a Polyvore creation I write down a word that I feel today and see what pieces of clothing match my feelings. Like many others, I also make sets themed toward whatever new and interesting contests Polyvore has!

If you could shared one tip with a new Polyvore member, what would it be?

Don't look at that piece of clothing like what it is, but more like what it can be! For example, that top doesn't have to be a top. It could be a jacket!

What are online stores do you love to clip from?

I use high fashion websites for example Gucci, Barneys, etc. But I have my down to earth websites that I shop in real life like PacSun and Hollister.

Do you have a favorite fashion designer or style icon who has influenced you?

My style icons are my queens: Lady Gaga for my fashion risk-taker side, Katy Perry for my quirky side, and Demi Lovato for my down-to-earth teen side! My favorite designers are Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen! (2-die-4)

What are your 3 favorite sets of the ones you've made?

I love this set because the dress is my own creation from different pieces of clothing!

This one because I adore Whitney for her daring style with mixes of colors and fabrics.

This set because it shows how this "Lady" changed my life and my mind...

What's your favorite set created by another Polyvore member?

I like this set made by BellaMarie because both Lady Gaga and I agree it's so gaga!

Got any feature requests for us?

One more thing that would make Polyvore even better is a bigger limit to how many items a set can have and online icons saying if your online or not! :)

Thanks for interviewing me it makes me feel needed in the world! LOL! :)
Peace & Love.... Sequins!!!
Jose A. Holguin

I love all the new questions asked in this interview! I think we should have interviews more often because they are the best part about the Polyvore blog. I love getting to know the other people in the community.
