Here are some of her sets:
Tell us about yourself.
My real name is Lauren and I'm from New York but I currently live in Los Angeles, California. I used to work as a script supervisor on films and commercials, but now I juggle different jobs in film, publishing and advertising. Film is my passion! I want to be a filmmaker so I always make time for screenwriting each week, but now I'm addicted to Polyvore, and it's taking up a lot of my writing time!
How would you describe your sense of style/fashion?
Well, I'm from NYC so I wear a lot of black! I love jeans, silver jewelry and rock music, so rocker chic really appeals to me, especially when it has a feminine edge. I love that I can wear whatever I want on a film set, but for comfort I'll often build an outfit around skinny jeans and an Alexander Wang tank. I also love dressing up jeans, like with high-heeled sandals or boots, a delicate lace blouse and maybe a cropped leather jacket. I'm not a head-to-toe girly girl, but I love the pastel ruffles and lingerie looks for this spring!
What's hot in your 'hood right now?
L.A. style is very laid back and girls wear shorts or skinny jeans with t-shirts and UGG boots year round, but I'm starting to see more short frilly skirts and dresses in pretty prints.
What's one thing you wish people would wear more of?
I like to see eclectic style, like when a modern outfit has a one-of-a-kind vintage piece thrown into the mix. I always see girls with individual style in NYC, especially downtown.
How did you discover Polyvore?
I was looking for a collage program for my computer and came across Polyvore during a search –– and I was hooked from day one!
Tell us a little about what you use Polyvore for and why. What do you like about Polyvore?
Polyvore is the ultimate creative outlet! You can free your mind and design whatever you want without being restricted by a bunch of rules on what you can and can't create. Polyvore is also a great stress reliever after a hard day of work. For my sets I like to create characters; I try to envision their style and an hour out of their day. I love that Polyvore not only about fashion –– I've seen so many fantastic art and interior design sets. Everything here is inspiring!
If you could share one tip or trick with a new Polyvore member, what would it be?
Make an effort to not pair the same two items or images from another set. Also, if you want your sets to stand out, you have to do something that no one else has done. Showcase what makes your sets different from all the others.
What fashion designers or style incons have influenced you?
I don't have one solid influence. I really loved Chloe when Phoebe Philo was there, and I often like Stella McCartney's work. For a while I liked the personal styles of Sienna Miller, Kate Moss and Rachel Bilson, and I still like Mary-Kate Olsen's style. I like whoever can mix it up without looking like they're trying too hard to look stylish.
What online stores do you like to clip from?
I discovered La Garçonne on Polyvore, and they are the best! I could live in their clothes and I always find something on their site. I also like Net-A-Porter, particularly the One Vintage pieces.
What are your 3 favorite sets of the ones you've made?
Uh-oh. I'm so picky that it's rare when I like everything about one of my sets. But sometimes the outfit, photos and atmosphere all work well together.
What's your favorite set created by another Polyvore member?
Yikes! Tough question! I'm inspired by so many Polyvorians, especially MyChanel, estrelita, Mafe96, BellaMarie and Apokalipstick. And I adore the inventiveness and distinct set style of katika diva! Her sets are like unique mixed-media paintings and they always surprise me!
We interviewed NotJustAnotherBrickInTheWall last and she wanted us to ask you if you've ever bought anything that you saw on Polyvore?
I've found great sandals and boots through Polyvore. I just bought the "Genarose" sandals, which are these black strappy platforms from Nine West, but I've already got my eye on so many others. Polyvore is a shopaholic's dream!
Got any feature requests for the Polyvore team?
I'm totally loving the rotate tool! And thank you, thank you, thank you for the "undo" button! I used to remove so many images by mistake! It would be great if when we add a new set to an old collection, the updated collection would appear at the top of our profile page. Also, I have a ton of drafts and I'd love to be able to organize them. Though I spend way too much time on Polyvore as it is! : )
