Interview with Fashionmint

Fashion is a universal language and so it's always lovely to hear from stylistas around the globe. Fashionmint, a freelance stylist from India, has a keen eye for styling celebrity looks as well as projecting her own personal style in her sets. Pull up a chair, check out some of her sets and get to know Fashionmint:

Tell us about yourself.

Hello everyone! My name is Sumeeral and all my friends call me Sumee. I am 25-years old, happily married and living in Bangalore City, India ! It is one of the most loving cities in the world. I work for IBM as a sourcing strategist, but what I love to do most is my freelance styling. I do styling for numerous photo shoots and ramp shows.

My personality is fun-loving and outgoing, I must say. Traveling, reading and spending my free time with close friends and family (and bothering my husband :-)) are the things I love to do! To add to that, I am a shopaholic :-) I am incomplete without fashion and I always follow the latest fashion reports and seasonal trends. As I mentioned before I love to travel, so a lot of my inspiration comes from meeting people of different cultures and exploring various places.

Describe your sense of style/fashion.

My sense of style in simple words is very unpredictable. One day I will be wearing a dress and the next I'll be rocker chic, and the day after I will be totally boho. I am a fan of accessories, I think they can bring any dull outfit to life. Bags are a must for me. One should always wear right shoes, they bring out your personality. I do follow trends, but only if they suit me. I am definitely a jeans and shorts person, which is very visible from my sets.

What's hot in your 'hood?

In India, people don't always follow international fashion. Mixing & matching is so common...ethnic clothes are teamed up with various on-trend items. For example, one can be wearing a saree with magnificent high heels and a sassy clutch!! Bangalore has especially moderate weather all year round, and since it's currently summer, people prefer to wear tanks with distressed shorts, jeans and colorful footwear.

What's one thing you wish people would wear more of?

I guess brogue shoes. They are so chic and comfortable and at the same time can be paired with nearly any outfit, whether a dress, skirt, play-suit, jeans, or shorts.

How did you discover Polyvore?

I was just surfing through internet for some shoes and I clicked on pic and it directed me to Polyvore ;-)

Tell us a little about what you use Polyvore for and why. What do you like about Polyvore?

Polyvore is my daily dose of relaxation. I try out various things which satisfies my creativity and I'm able to get feedback from the fabulous people here on Poly. Poly is my sweet given name to Polyvore... he he (^.^)

If you could share one tip or trick with a new Polyvore member, what would it be?

Be yourself and don't just make sets to get faves. Do what you like!

Do you have a favorite fashion designer or style icon who has influenced you?

Currently I am blown away by Prabal Gurung and Jason Wu. Both of them are so young and talented and their designs are so unique. Elie Saab is my red carpet favorite and Chanel for its identity.

Cate Blanchet is the epitome of class and elegance. She always tries out different things and is so unpredictable. I totally adore Nicole Richie's effortless and charming boho style and Kate Moss for just being so stylish!

What online stores do you like to clip from?

I clip from everywhere, but usually more from personal blogs like Simply Seductive (wonderful collection of pics) and Just Jared (I do many celebrity style sets).

What are your 3 favorite sets of the ones you've made?

This set is so much my personal style:

My inner bohemian self:

The outfit is just super cool:

What's your favorite set created by another Polyvore member?

It has to be this one from Vicky. The outfit is so glam. Love the color of the dress, killer heels, fabulous clutch, the blazer is the perfect touch and all the pics and other stuff are fantastic.

We recently interview a violent delight and she wants to know what celebrity you'd love to style?

Hmm, well I would love to style Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. They are so much fun. Though sometimes I don't get their 'homeless chic' look!!

Got any feature requests for the Polyvore team?

Nothing at all. I love everything here at Poly... Big kisses!
