A Few New Changes on Polyvore

UPDATE 9/14 11:25AM PST: Please see this blog post for the latest news on this change.

We wanted to let you know about a few changes we've made to the site to help make navigation easier for you. The first thing you'll notice is that there is now a 'Profile' tab at the top of the page, which will help you return to your own profile at any time while on the site. You'll also find quick links to get the clipper, organize your items, create a set and create a collection directly from your 'My Home' page.

We've also renamed 'contacts' to people you 'follow'. Instead of adding a contact, you can now 'Follow' someone. If you're loving someone's style on Polyvore, just click the 'Follow' link on their profile page (formerly 'Add to contacts').

You can see a list of all the people you're following on the right-hand side of your profile page.

We hope these changes make navigating the site easier for you. If you have any thoughts or feedback, feel free to leave a comment. We love hearing from you!

i have a few questions about the new layout...

1. Why are we "following" people now and not being their contacts? I like being someone's contact, because i would rather not "follow" them. It's weird.

2. Why is the search engine up in the corner different?

3. Why do we have so many links on our homepage? There are to many and it's confusing.

4. Why would we need a link to our profile, when all we have to do is click on our username?

5. Why is "faves" changed to "likes"? It makes no sense now. Now i get "likes" instead of "faves"?

αℓєxιs ℓynn ; said...

I hate this. Everything was fine as is. Why change faves?! We became to know and love the old polyvore! Now making it 'likes'?! It's not the same! It's like how they changed Become A Fan on Facebook to Like..it's not the same. I love you polyvore, but this may ruin my experience with this site..I am disappointed.

I don't mind it all, except for the "followers". To me, it seems less friendly and less personal than "contacts".

Honestly, you're trying too hard to be like twitter or tumblr. Which is not cool, because you don't allow freedom of posts like tumblr, so don't even try. I also think that these new 'changes' look tacky. Instead of improving, you're trying to tack up space. Personally, I think this was useless and most everyone agrees with me.

Anonymous said...

please change it back. it's not easier. it's just confusing.

Anonymous said...

lots and lots of people dislike the changes. we do like some change but not too much at once, also it makes our home pages smaller and harder.

One thing that would be great is a quicker way to manage groups, like a "My Groups" button. Anyway, love the new changes, thanks poly!

Nice new changes Polyvore. Its more helpful. I'd love to have the link for my drafts back. But aside from that no complaints here. If I can create pretty fashions then I'll be here.

Anonymous said...

I don't like this, at all.
Why, Polyvore, why???

Anonymous said...

You need to change it back ASAP

Gothic_Pheonix said...

This is a truly unnecessary and useless update. It was easier navigating before, and now it's just annoying what you did. And I'm sorry but 'follow'? Really? This isn't supposed to be like a social networking site (ie Facebook, myspace) but by changing it to 'follow' you are making this art and fashion site a social network and I don't like that. There are other better updates you could do; like blocking multiple accounts from the same IP address if it has been flagged before or reported for porn. A lot of people come on here to hate, copy, cheat, and steal. Once their account gets deleted, they often just go and create another account, and continue their hateful comments and actions. Many other websites have software that blocks people whose accounts have been deleted because of wrongdoings from creating a new account.

Anonymous said...

I'm sorry polyvore but I am not a fan of this change. Is there any way you can change at least some of this back to the old way

bea. said...

I like all of the new changes but it would be most useful not to have the link to the clipper there 24/7.

Gwen said...

It's actually not easier for me. I've spent two years on the site and every time that there was a layout change, I had to slowly readjust to it.

I wear glasses so I often have to squint at the screen if I'm adjusting something. Now that you've shrunk the sidebar links, I keep missing the button. Not to mention rearranging where the add as a contact button is.

And I have to mention that I dislike 'following' people. It's in my mental mindset that I believe myself to be independent of others. I dislike being called a "follower" now. It sounds far too much like the Tumblr and Twitter trends going on. It sounds like I'm kind of mindless and following people to try to join up with them.

So please listen to my complaints? (:

It's Magtastic! said...

...Polyvore, I wish you would make improvements to the site that would actually benefit the community. Who cares whether they are 'liking' or 'favorite-ing'?! Or that we can now click the 'profile' button, even though there's already a button that takes us to our profile?! C'mon Polyvore, here us out. And not just fashion set makers, the mosaics and inspiring set makers as well!

Also, why are image uploading websites now banned? I used to use freewebs.com and now my site there is obsolete. What's wrong with freewebs? Or other image uploading websites?

Anonymous said...

Why was the contacts changed to 'follow'?

Anonymous said...

It is kinda annoying. but we (or atleast i) understand.

Can you change it back?No one really likes it.

Why was the cotacts changed to 'follow'?

Please change it back Polyvore Staff. Many people do not like the new layout and names. "Following" somebody is more like Twitter and "Likes" is more like Facebook. We want Polyvore to be original and not to copy other sites.

Xx.Jenny.Jawbreaker.xX said...

i'm not saying the changes are bad. i just think they're unnecessary. and it's a lot like a twitter and formspring with the whole "following" a person thing. please stop making so many changes. they're confusing :/

can we please not have followers...? i'd rather have contacts. thats the only thing i don't like about the change. PLEASE AND THANKYOU.

I hate the new poly.

no one really likes this, its just a tad more like a social networking site than polyvore. we're not stalkers, we don't need 'followers'. that's twitter. we don't need 'likes', that's facebook. i think we were all happy with 'contacts' and 'faves'.

but probably, in time people will get used to it . :)

Buut A LOT of people are complaining about this new polyvore && so many people find thi snew polyvore confusing, including me, && if youu "follow" someone, thaat sounds like youur stalking them. NO OFFENSE. Not only me, but other people too, wanna go baack to the old polyvore layout so can youu PLEASE PLEASE PRETTY PLEASE change it back? :'(
&& please dont delete my polyvore becooz of my opinion.

I would love to see some changes to our items when we are in the Editor. More than two years ago Phoebe Juliet suggested that colour coding our own items would be wonderful and now when I have to go through 100 pages of flowers to find what I want - well it would be nice to click a colour and find it. Also, it would be wonderful to be able to type in 1001 in the numbers place for pages of items so we can search the higher pages easier (in our own items). Thank you for listening and for all you do on here.

haleyy said...

woo polyvore is trying to be like Tumblr now! (with the following) haha but I don't really mind at all, I don't see why it needed to change, but not a big deal. Thank you for the # Organize my items
# Create a set
# Create a collection buttons!

Anonymous said...

this was a pointless change. its more like twitter and facebook. it's a fashion website!

Anonymous said...

Is this twitter now????

Anonymous said...

I, personally, dislike these changes. It makes Polyvore too much like Tumblr and Twitter, and the changes in Navigation and wording have only messed me up.

Anonymous said...

Okay I dont mean to sound harsh or anything. But im sorry, this is Polyvore. Not Twitter. I really dont want to have "followers" or be a "follower" Just saying. Also, I know a whole bunch of people feel the same as I do. We went through all those glitches for this? Cant you give us somthing we want? I mean yes the quick links are genuis. But, I could of lived without them. Thanks for your time.

Anonymous said...

Sorry, but what's wrong with "contacts"? Or the old fonts? The new font looks out of place. As for "people I'm following"... well, let's just say it's a really unwieldy way of saying "contact." Why use three words when one will do?

When all's said and done, the the old look was far more sleek and elegant.

Anonymous said...

I really dislike these new changes. It was better to have 'Contacts' than Followers, like Twitter. It also sounds like youre being a stalker/ being stalked. Also, 'Favs' are a lot easier that Set Likes. The home page is also more inconvenient than before.

Anonymous said...

Hey Polyvore!,
I love polyvore and all, but I HATE the new changes! It is too confusing, && i was perfectly fine clicking my name to get to my profile! Also, the term following is getting to me, it makes me seem like a stalker! I was perfectly fine just having contacts..not followers, it makes me seem like people are stalking me!! Also, we dont need to have the Create new set button, && all the other ones on the home page! Thats why you put it on the top, right? Also, we dont really need all the new links, its too confusing, & some of em, I dont even use!!
Thnx for reading, ♥ Sydney

This is already upsetting many, many people. Polyvore members are reactionaries. They don't like change one bit, especially if it seems unneccessary, which the new layout appears to be. Besides, contacts and "faves" are Polyvore terminology, and have been for almost four years. Why change them at this point? It will only annoy loyal, longtime members.

i like having contacts better. it's easier to say and type and it takes up less space on the page. but other than that it's ok

Anonymous said...

Dear Polyvore,

I like the profile thing at the top of the page, and the easier navigation. The only thing's I don't like and many other people do not like the Follow button. It makes it seem like a social networking site like Twitter, and that's what some people were avoiding when they joined Polyvore. And the set "likes" don't make sense to me. "12 new set likes." it is not even grammatically correct. You can LIKE a lot of colors, but you can only have one FAVORITE color. I hope you change the follow back to contacts and the set "likes" back to favorites. Thanks for reading.

A few people that I know of do not like these changes at all. We have even started a petition against it. The signatures keep growing and growing, so if you would just get a chance to look at it, that would be great. And if you don't, it's fine. We don't want to be rude, we just want to tell you what we think about all this. The address to the petition is:

I still would love to have the streaming feature back. Like the stream of new sets from those you are following.. :) Love all the new additions.

Heather said...

Okay Polyvore, the whole "following" instead adding to contacts is kinda stalkerish O.o Why do you even need to change that?? And the profile tab thing is weird. I keep going to the my home thing and saying to my self what the @$&! happened here!?! Also having the create a set thing is pointless. We already have the tab thing at the top. PLEASE change it all back.

I'm sorry but i dont really like the changes. Well i mean, some of them are ok, but id rather have the old fave thing instead of liking, because it seems too facebook. and i kinda want the contacts thing back because following just seems weird. love this iste, but not the new changes. :/

i somewhat like it. but i hate the follower thing, and so do lots of people on polyvore. please change it back to add a contact.

Anonymous said...

Thank you for taking the time to think about our needs, but most of the things you added were already right there. For example, the Profile button could be previously be accessed by clicking on your username in the top right corner. Also, there is already a Create a Set button on our Homepages. While I'm grateful for some of other other changes, some of the text got really small & I think it would be easier if it were normal size. Thanks(:

Catherine said...

Some of the changes are really, really great. Like the fact that it says "get the clipper" right under, because lots and lots of people would PM me about how to get the clipper and it would get annoying.

But it just sort of ticks me off that you guys made it "followers" instead of contacts. This isn't twitter. And you turned "favourites" into "likes". This isn't facebook, either. I really liked how polyvore was so different... I'm worried it's just going to become the same.

Anonymous said...

i do not like the new layout. it is harder for me to make my way around the site. i do not like how we have followerers rather than contacts or how we like sets instead of fav sets.

Well expect LOTS of comments on this post. I LOVE the fonts on top. I like that "Profile" is back there like before. I love how it looks when i click on my collections, i don't have to scroll all the way down to find one...SWEET

But one thing i may have to adjust to or might not is the "FOLLOW". It's kinda less personnel in some ways. Don't really like that, it reminds me of twitter or "LIKE" the sets reminds me of Facebook, which poly is really above those sites to me ;)
With the "ADD TO CONTACT" it made us all POLY PALS don't know if you get what i mean.

Well, okay... but you still haven't fixed the problem about the contacts (uh, "followees"?) not remaining stable on my pages. I go to the page in the morning, and Doozer is on page 1. I fave her, and figure she's been taken care of for the day. I fave everyone else on page one. In the afternoon, I bring up page 2. And there is... Doozer!
I have written to you about this before. Items remain stable. Drafts remain stable. Why can't these pages? It's really a nuisance, and the more people you are following, the more of a nuisance it is.

I've like almost all of the changes in the past, but I think with all of the "likes" and "followers" the Polyvore we all know is becoming more like Twitter and Facebook. Whats next? Status updates?
Please consider to change it back, because upon the changes there have been many unhappy polyvores changes set with lots of comments on how they agreed.

Personally, I think that "contacts" was a much better title than "followers", a heading over-used everywhere these days thanks to Twitter. Headings such as "Favorite Sets", "Favorite Collections", and "Contact's Sets" were also better versed than "Sets I Liked".

Just another confused polyvorian. :) said...

Hmmm, i don't know how I feel about these changes. I mean, these don't seem like huge changes but it's pretty simple to find where to get the clipper and it doesn't really need to be on everyone's homepage. Especially those who already have the clipper. It was also pretty easy to find where you can organize your items. The new add-ons to the home page are pretty useless. And also, why one earth did you have to change contacts to "people I'm following" it just sounds like Polyvore is trying to copy Twitter and also is a lot less personal. You could add someone to your "contacts" for reasons other than liking their sets, which is the only reason I can see for chaging contacts to "people I'm following". And "likes" doesn't really make much sense either to a website that prides itself on the diversity of its content. Pretty much every other website uses that term. What's next Polyvore, status updates?

I can't believe people are getting so worked up over the change to a word. I find following more apt since someone doesn't have to follow you back. Although I don't see what the point of the changes was. Even so, thanks for trying to think of new things to improve the site.

When I go to my homepage and it says so&so started following you x minutes ago, it's rather creepy. It feels impersonal. Contacts is a much better word for the people we talk to and admire here. I love Polyvore because it's unique, but these changes have made me feel like Polyvore is assimilating to the other popular sites. I feel that the changes are unecessary. Why ruin a good thing? We love Polyvore prechange. It was simpler, and a lot less cluttered.

i dont really like the new polyvore .... it's becoming a whole different website... i dont like how you changed it to 'likes' &&+ 'following' i really liked the faves / favorites .. i thought it was unique , but i am suggesting that you get an 'add item'' button or something like that.... so that you dont have to click on the item to add it(:

Anonymous said...

I really like the bigger sizes when it comes to looking at my own and other people's sets/collections/etc pages. I don't have a problem with any of the changes, actually I much prefer it now. To be quite honest, nearly all the complaints here are overly dramatic and really embarrassing.

Anonymous said...

the new changes are okay but definetly not necessary. We dont need a link to creating a set on our homepage because there is already a tab above it that says "Create". We also dont need a tab to our profile (the one next to My Home, Create, etc.) because we can already access that by clicking on our name in the top right corner so there is no point of having that. all these new changes are unnecessary and make things look cluttered. I also dont like the new font very much or the fact that we're now "following people" instead of having contacts. i liked the old polyvore and i think most other people did too. please change it back :)

and one thing that i think you should add is when someone is lookingt through their contacts instead of having to look through all of their contacts when they're trying to find someone they can just search them. :)

Gwendolyn said...

Also, why do we need two buttons on the same page to do the same things? Adding two buttons to get you tot he editor, to get the clipper...think about it, once most people get the clipper, that button will be completely useless.

I also have eye problems, and now that these things are sqaushed together, I can no longer easily click what I want to click.

Ummm....I'm sorry Polyvore, these changes makes Polyvore look way too busy, and distorts the real reason why Polyvorians love POLYVORE so much! I like this site because it's simple, and fun, and friendly, and I can express my artistic creations through my favorite medium...clothes! Also my icon is small now. :( Please change back Poly. </3

Polyvore, I really do appreciate all these constant updates; it's nice to know we're always getting 'the newest features,' LOL(:
But there are a few things that aren't really necessary ... just silly little text things. Like ...
- Following? I honestly preferred 'contacts' or 'friends,' following seems so ... Twitter-wannabe-esque. And when you follow someone on Twitter to be ... updated on their life. Are we following people's styles on Polyvore now, rather than creating our own?

- Favorites/set likes; this is just a matter of how odd it sounds, I'm sorry. xD '_____ set likes' ... it almost sounds improper. ahaha. no big deal, though.

- At the top bar of the home page, next to the logo, you know where it says 'Home. Profile Shop Ask Explore Create?' why did the text get smaller?
I think it looked better before, and was easier to click. Even less of a concern, but just wondering ...

But the rest of it is awesome; the shortcuts on the home page is really convenient! I really don't want to come across as whining, since these complaints are so petty, but I can imagine it'd be rather easy to change ... no?

I like this new changes, really, I didn't even really know anything was changed. I don't mind the following.

Many people don't like the changes and I don't either. I hate the term following, it sounds so creepy, contacts sounds friendly.

Anonymous said...

How about instead of making pointless changes that don't help much you do something useful that we've been asking for? Such as raising the item limit or giving us the option to hide those buttons on the editor screen so we don't have to zoom out whenever we're working in the top or the corner?

Anonymous said...

I mean... these changes aren't bad or anything, but I just feel like you could be doing better things with your time...

Anonymous said...

The "Few New Changes" seems more like Polyvore's copying other sites like "following" people on Tumblr. That's a blogging thing.
I just really don't see a point to these changes. It's kinda like the Neopets hype all over again. Is there new people running the site like what happened to Neopets? This is just all so pointless.

Rachel said...

Dear Polyvore, I don't really mind the changes because I know I will get used to the new look, and it really doesn't change my experience on Polyvore. One CHANGE I would LOVE is that you don't have to click an item in order to add it to your items! THANKS!

FOLLOW?? ARE YOU MAD!?? I hate the new layout! What the heck is wrong with you polyvore? Don't you know that we don't want anymore changes??? AND IT'S A FEW IT'S ALOT OF CHANGES!

Anonymous said...

CHANGE IT ALL BACK!!!!
1) change the FOLLOWERS thing
2) change the LIKES thing
3) quit changing the links on the homepage..they were fine!!
4) put DRAFTS back on the profiles
5) POLYVORE WAS JUST FINE!!!

Anonymous said...

I'm not liking this new layout, it's awkward and I think it will be difficult to get used to. Also I'd rather have contacts then feel like I'm stalking someone!

Anonymous said...

stop trying to be like twitter. its really annoying. also the clipper thing does not have to be there.

thank! I kwon u mean every change 4 the best...is going to take me some time to adjust to them but i think i like them...
thanks!

Oh yeah, i forgot something...WHY IS MY PIC SOOO SMALL NOW. QUIT SCREWIN WITH POLY!

Anonymous said...

i think the changes are awesome and perfectly fine. :) people need to stop being too dramatic.

Anonymous said...

i don't like the new polyvore - i want to be someones contact not follow them! and likes instead of faves and there are so many links to profile to home to organise to clip..... and the new font on top of the page looks bad, i like old polyvore and instead of working to change things that don't need to be changed change the 50 limit thing!

Anonymous said...

mmmm...I'd love if u come back to likes and contacts...is more personal or...r u having $ problems and u need to make it cheaper and not so exclusive as it is?

Anonymous said...

smaller layout = bad
change in font = bad

please note, this makes polyvore much LESS accessible to users.

following = very very bad
contacts = good.

i don't think it makes polyvore any easier. I think you sould just change it back. I don't get how clicking follow is any easier than clicking add contact. Also, i liked the look better before. Honestly, you should just change it back to what it was. Changing it does not make polyvore any easier than it was before. I don't want to sound like i'm whinning, but everybody else thinks so.

bluetomatoes said...

I don't like the changes!! I liked the old Polyvore. It's more confusing, I'd rather get faves than likes, and following someone sounds like I'm stalking them!!

i really dont like the new changes on polyvore the dont make any sense to me, i've known the old polyvore and i like it better the changes are more confusing than helpful to me

Anonymous said...

So, they changed it, it's not the end of the world. At least they told us what to expect, and they're making the site easier to use.

My favorite sets and my own sets appear now too big on my netbook and they are less numerous by page! It's not easy, I always click to go to another page!

Go to the old version, please!!!!

Anonymous said...

I hate this!
I agree. This isn't tritter for us to 'Fallow' someone!!I hate this.It made everything so much more complicated then it had to be!Just because of this I am leaving Polyvore. Before you guys added all of this extra things to our home page it was perfect and unique. You just showed you guys wanna make Polyvore to be like Twitter and Facebook it's stupid!!!

RogueWarrior said...

Ugh! I HATE the changes! "Following"?? This isn't twitter ppl. I had contacts for a reason. I consider them my friends. I don't stalk ppl and this really sounds like stalker language. And we really didn't need the additional "profile" link since you can always click your name to get to your profile. Sorry PV, it just seems like at every turn there is some unnecessary change vs a helpful change. Like how about spending time on the create page and adding features like skew and erase (vs the vector style cut out of an image)? The time and money wasted here could have been better spent on giving the users things that they actually want. Disappointing...

Anonymous said...

I don't like Facebook and Twitter, so I'm not really partial to the "follow" and "like" thing. I think that "contact" is more personal, and "like" has become overrated by Facebook. Also, I have the clipper, so why do I need a little hyper link for it? I DO like how I can click on my new set favorites, comments, and contacts, though, under my recent site activity. The "create a set" and "collection" and "organize items" is kind of just redundant, because you can just go to the top toolbar and click "create", and organize your items by going TO your items, which I definitely like a whole lot more.
Oh, and take out the "has" next to group announcements. It doesn't seem grammatically correct to me.
Change most of it back, please?! You can change some stuff to hyper links and all that, but we don't need a million icons for things that are already perfectly fine as they are.
Thanks<3

Thank you. I'm glad you did this. Now the prissy, spoiled girls that keep asking for everything can see where it's getting them.

Congratulations, girls, you're bringing Polyvore into the 21st century!

However, the "profile" button is a bit much. I usually just click on my username to take me to my profile.

stop being babies guys, it's not that big of a change!

One request. When using the tabs to view your sets, you used to be able to see them by date or by popularity I would like the popularity option back, its always fun to see which of your sets are most popular. Otherwise the changes are fine by me the text is a little small. But having the clipper option is good because alot of people dont know where to get it. There is not much need to 2 create a set options. Thank you for everything Polyvore

I don´t like "folow people", I prefer "have contacts". "Contacts" is much more appropriate. Ideed, I don´t follow people, I contact persons to exchange ideas, enjoy their sets, chat or just say hello. I don´t feel like a devotee of my contacts... even when I like their work a lot.
The expression "sets likes" doesn´t like me either, I´d rather prefer "faves". I love Polyvore but this changes are unuseful.

jasmine in space said...

i'm sorry, but i'm disappointed. these changes in my opinion did not benefit polyvore at all. this is a creative, unique place, and by changing "favorites" to "likes" is like we're turning into tumblr. from changing "contacts" to "followers" is like we're turning into twitter. i would love it if you would revert it back to its layout before this unpleasant change.

Anonymous said...

I don't really get why polyvore has changed like this. i HATE it! It's becoming just like Facebook and it's stupid. Polyvore was amazing the way it was.

Anonymous said...

I think everything is ok except for the "fallow" thing, and the "likes" thing. I believe it is SOOO much better as contacts and faves.

Anonymous said...

Guys, stop being so mena, these people are trying hard to make this site a better one for us. They're not hurting anything, so what? They made a link to the profile page, they changed a few words, no biggie.

palindromes said...

I'm not thrilled with the changes from a purely site design point of view. It seems unnecessary to have a "Create a set" button, when there's also a create button that leads to the same place. And, since many people (including myself) already have the clipper installed-and have had it installed for months or years, it seems like a waste of space to have it right on the front page. And, it seems unneeded to have a profile button-that's existed for years in the upper right hand corner. There's really no need to have multiple buttons for each part of the site-polyvore's super easy to navigate since it's a fairly small website. It's not that I hate the changes, they just don't make sense-it's almost as if a freshman-year design student did this in an hour :(

Anonymous said...

I absolutely hate this. It feels less personal to call it a follower than a contact. The new layouts always make it more... useless. You already have a profile button, your name. And you already have all these buttons! It was useless for this update. Please change it back!!!!!!!!

{αm}ɓigμøμsℓч sɦ{i}ɳiɳg said...

I don't think this is such a good idea. I appreciate the effort, but it just makes everything more complicated. I liked knowing someone was "in my contacts". Now, I'm following them, like on Tumblr, or something.
It all seems nice and all, but I think a lot of people agree that we don't enjoy this.

UGH! i absoloutely hate this! i ♥ u poly! but why? is their more likes about the changes or not? there more nots so we would all like it if u changed it back! thx!

drɛɑminց.widɛ.awaƘǝ said...

I don't maind the changes as I'm sort of new to polyvore, the only thing I don't like is following people. I was raised to be a leader, not a follower. I prefer contacts, more as people I can talk too. please, please, please switch it back.

Jacydance said...

It's not so much that i really MIND the changes, for me it's more of a why fix something that isn't broken? and why change the things that were really working like the diverse categories? i think you should focus on the changes polyvore users WANT, not on petty things no one even cares about

Anonymous said...

im sorry but i really hate the new changes. its confusing and hard to navigate, and just generally unnecessary. i hope u guys change it back due to the large number of people who have commented that they dont like the new changes.

Anonymous said...

I don't like this. Its like morphing facebook & twitter. -.-

Anonymous said...

Polyvore was so much easier before. i Was happy with the old version. now its weird.....:(

Anonymous said...

wow it's truly getting easier especially with the organize my items tool (i really love it)! but things that i don't really like about the changes are the words "followers" and "likes". i want my "contacts" and "favorites" back (they make one has to change the profiles information, the groups information, and anything that has words "contacts" or "favorites"). "contacts" and "favorites" are Polyvore's characteristics and "followers" and "likes" make it kinda seems like another site, especially the word "followers". PLEASE change it back Polyvore team.

everything is different now! When I joined 6 months ago everything was fine and great! No need for any changes. As a programmer I know that changes cause glitches which happen VERY often lately! KEEP POLYVORE THE SAME PLEASE!

HATE IT WITH ALL OF MY HEART!

i hate hate hate hate hate HATE the new layout. i mean what was wrong with "contacts sets"? why do you have to change it to "from people im following" its stalkerish and just plain stupid. im sorry polyvore i love you but ur new changes are just aweful.

Anonymous said...

i really hate the new changes. everyone is going to quit using it. is that what u want?? cuz if it is, then keep right on going with the stupidity that has become polyvore

i do NOT like this new layout. i liked having "contacts" and "faves". i liked the old tab system, and i liked the old format! please change it back!!

Anonymous said...

I agree with all the other people who don't like the changes. It was perfectly fine as it was, stop trying to be like facebook & twitter.

Anonymous said...

stop it, we grow to love polyvore & you have to go change it. the change was not nessisary at all. really it wasnt. faves to likes & contacts to following? stop trying to become the new tumblr or facebook.

Anonymous said...

i hate it! everything was fine as it was. why change it when people like it! if you want to do something that WOULD help polyvore, delete the stupid 50 limit rule!

KCSB said...

So NOT liking "LIKES". Favorite was much nicer. Like is just...blah. Also, it is very creepy the "marysue started following" me 2 hours ago. Will she catch up, or go away? I feel like I am being staked! YIKES!

Anonymous said...

im sorry but i really dont like it. what is with the repetition with the buttons?? why do we need two buttons to do the exact same thing?? its frustrating. i really hope you change it back because I really liked it before.

skye. said...

i think all of this is okay, except the fact that our contacts are followers and our profile pictures have even bigger borders. followers just seems creepy and it seems as if polyvore is trying to fit in with other popular sites such as twitter or tumblr. and no one liked the borders on the polyvore images in the first place, why make the borders bigger? just get rid of them. i'm sure everyone on polyvore would absolutely adore it. other than that, everything else is okay. but i was fine with the old layout.

Anonymous said...

i see that you are getting a lot of hate for this... i just wanted to let you know, i like the changes! i think it is kinda refreshing to have changes here every once & a while & it seems to be making everything way easier :) thanks!

laylay said...

Hey polyvore!
Everyone has been asking for you to make a sign that says if someone is on or not. Now why dont you do that instead of stuff people dont need? We need these if someone wants to message another person... they should know when theyre online. That way we know when to send the message.

Jenn said...

As people have said, the 'follow' is much less personal than 'contact'. It makes the whole thing feel more like a popularity contest and less like an artistic community, which is something that (previously) set Polyvore apart from other large networks.

On the other hand, I do like the other changes- especially the profile link and the extra options in the menu.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for updating & switching up Polyvore over the years, it's come a long way, and you add a lot of new features that we love.

I understand you're trying to stay current, but "likes" should to back to favorites. The wording on our profiles has become very clunky. "Favorites" is much smoother than "set likes", and "contacts' sets" is easier to say than "People I'm Following Sets". Polyvore is a much more personal experience, we talk to each other here, we don't just "follow". That's why "contacts" is a nicer choice of words. :)

Regular users do not need to install the clipper daily, so please move that to a new spot, like a prominent space in the help section. New users know to go there to learn about the site; you want to keep the main interface nice & clean for regulars.
It's the same for the new "Profile" link, we already had one, by clicking on our name.

Thanks for listening. xoxo kneesock

Preferably I like the new polyvore. I like the idea of following instead of contactsbecause it seems less personall and I dont feel like im adding some random stranger!

Noreen said...

Polyvore is now doomed. I like the old way, better. Much, much, much better. This has confused me, and has not made navigation better on Polyvore.

Anonymous said...

I really don't like all of these changes. I think that how it was before was perfect. There are way to many links on the homepage which makes everything to confusing. I don't like the term 'following' it reminds me too much of twitter. I wish you wouldn't have changed it :(
