Interview with Luba L

Today's interview is with Russian Polyvore member, Luba L. She's been creating stylish sets for a year and has a very fresh and edgy layout style. Many of her sets are styled vertically, giving a minimalistic aesthetic to the looks she compiles. Here are some of her fashion-forward sets:

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Luba. I'm Russian and I live in Moscow. I've also lived in different parts of Russia and Johannesburg, South Africa for couple of years. My first degree is in ancient history, but I never worked in that field. I started to work at 17 at the press center of a local ice hockey team. My last job was in commercial real estate. Ultimately I discovered that my passion is wine. So I took a wine course in South Africa, and then I completed my sommelier study here in Moscow. I've just started to learn French because I'll need it for my future job in the wine industry. Besides my career, I have two lovely sons - 9 and 2 years old.

How would you describe your sense of style?

I think what we wear (or what we'd like to wear) is a reflection of our personalities. I would describe myself as an open and positive person, as is my style. It's minimalistic, clean, and sometimes vintage inspired.

What's one thing you wish people would wear more of?

I adore dresses! They're so versatile and easy to wear.

How did you discover Polyvore?

I discovered Polyvore on InStyle.

Tell us a little about what you use Polyvore for and why. What do you like about Polyvore?

I use Polyvore to relax -- it's my way to chill out. I'm a creative person and a perfectionist at the same time, and Polyvore is a great creation tool. It's hard for me to create something by hand, for example through drawing. Here on Polyvore I'm always happy with my sets and the creative part of my personality is completely fulfilled.

If you could share one tip or trick with a new Polyvore member, what would it be?

It took me a while to figure out how to keep a background. I suggest using a white square behind your set as a good trick.

Do you have a favorite fashion designer or style icon who has influenced you?

My favorite style icon is definitely Marilyn Monroe. In regard to designers, I admire the creativity each and every one of them has.

What sites do you like to clip from?

Like most, I like to see what's just in at net-a-porter.com. My favorite Russian sites are to-dress.ru and fashiondetails.ru. I also like to look for accessories on tooklookbook.com and editorial shots on fashiongonerouge.com.

What are your 3 favorite sets of the ones you've made?

What's your favorite set created by another Polyvore member? What do you love about it?

This set is a pure perfection for me! All items are fashionable and wearable at the same time. The creativity in presentation of this outfit is just amazing! This set is so unique, outstanding and spectacular!

Got any feature requests for the Polyvore team?

I'd like you to make it possible to comment on someone's collections. Thank you!
