Tell us about yourself.
First of all, thanks so much for featuring me on the blog. I’ve been obsessed with Polyvore for a long time now and it’s a thrill to be recognized. My name is Rosie, and I’m a 19-year old college student studying Art History and Political Science. I live in Chicago, Illinois. In my free time, I like to watch a lot of TV (mostly Mad Men and SpongeBob), lay around with my friends, go to restaurants and museums, and travel whenever I get the chance. I’m all about Old Hollywood, yachts and seafaring, Renaissance Art, and superhero movies.
What are your personal aspirations?
My dream job is to be a Museum Curator. I enjoy classic art so much and the idea of actually making money while enjoying it (obviously other things are involved, but you get my drift) sounds totally ideal to me. I also dream of one day becoming rich enough to afford the clothes I feature in my sets.
How has Polyvore affected your life?
Polyvore has exposed me to so many different senses of style. A lot of the people I follow have a taste in clothing that is wildly different from mine, yet I still enjoy and appreciate them so much. Looking at other people’s sets on Polyvore has also helped me to become more adventurous with my own sets, and with my real-life clothing choices.
Describe your personal sense of style.
Simple, clean, and colorful. My goal in dressing is to be able to look back at pictures of me 10 years from now and not be embarrassed about anything. I try to buy stuff that will stand the test of time. This means quality materials, and never wearing more than one trendy thing in an outfit. The fastidiousness of classic movie stars like Grace Kelly and Katharine Hepburn inspires a lot of the choices I make when it comes to clothes, hair, and makeup. My only accessories are pearl earrings and sunglasses. I’m a nut about how things fit and I love combining bright and unexpected colors.
What are some of your favorite brands?
I can’t get enough of the Italians: Bottega Veneta, Prada, and Giambattista Valli especially. If I may quote Kanye West’s twitter, their clothes have the kind of “#LUXURYREALNESS” that you can’t fake. I can’t pass up an Oscar de la Renta party dress, and Chanel’s runway shows never fail to delight me. J.Crew’s delicious color combinations and styling have caused me to literally salivate on more than one occasion.
Got any feature requests for the Polyvore team?
I like Polyvore just the way it is.
