Member Spotlight: diegolohve

Today's spotlight is on diegolohve, winner of our FNO Style Setter challenge. In fact, she's visiting Vogue today to attend a photo shoot and tour the famed Vogue Fashion closet! In celebration, we caught up with the New York native to find out more about her. Here are some of her sets:

And long after I'm gone, you'll still be humming along...

Tell us about yourself.

My best friends call me Coco, which is actually quite fitting because I love Coco Chanel. I wish I could say I was the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Magazine or something as fascinating as that, but to be honest, I am just a high school student who loves fashion, Europe, tennis, books, Taylor Swift, and One Direction. One other thing you might want to know about me is that I have a twin, london-rose.

What's the story behind your Polyvore profile name?

I chose the name "diegolohve" because at the time that I was making my Polyvore account, I was talking with my friend about Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, and we were swooning over Diego Luna. That, and I was trying to be artsy and find a new way to spell “love.”

What are your personal aspriations?

While I joke with my friends about becoming the next Anna Wintour, I realize that that is very unrealistic, and the truth is that I don’t really know what I want to do with my life, as I am still quite young. While I don’t have any specific goals—except the typical one of getting into a good college—I am still quite ambitious and aspire to be successful and save the world and all that fun, cliché stuff.

How has Polyvore affected your life?

Seeing as I go on Polyvore pretty much every day—I promise I’m not addicted (maybe)—I would say that Polyvore has become a somewhat significant part of my life. I have definitely fallen in love with the world of Polyvore since I joined two years ago and love “meeting” people from all over the world who share a common interest in fashion. Polyvore has thrust me into the world of fashion and sparked a passion in me that once did not exist. It has helped me refine my taste in clothes and develop a style that, while not necessarily unique, is my own.

Describe your personal sense of style.

While I don’t quite come close to emulating the Blair Waldorfs of the world, I’d say I have a mix of a preppy and classy style. I say this because I love blazers, cardigans, and blouses and prefer them over graphic tees, hoodies, etc. I also love lace and wearing the colors black, white, and gold. But, being the ambivalent teenager that I am, my style really depends on the day. Some days I feel like dressing in more of a NYC street style—which, to me, capitalizes on layering and wearing leather—and other days I feel like wearing striped Breton tops and espadrilles, taking on more of a Parisian style.

What are some of your favorite brands?

I will always love the timeless elegance that comes with the brand Chanel, but in terms of more contemporary clothing, I love T by Alexander Wang and 3.1 Phillip Lim. Obviously though, as a teenager, my resources are limited, so I don’t wear any of these brands in real life. I’m more of an Urban Outfitters girl. Oh, and I window shop at the Romwe site frequently.

Got any requests for the Polyvore team?

I’ll have to get back to you on that one. Right now, everything seems fine to me!

What made you decide to enter the FNO Style Setter contest on Polyvore?

I entered the FNO contest because I’ve always been a huge fan of Vogue Magazine. I’ve read everything from Teen Vogue to French Vogue—my friend got me a subscription for my birthday last year, as it pretty much sums up my love for fashion and Paris. I love the models that grace the covers of each edition, and I think a lot of the editorials are breathtaking. So, obviously, I was thrilled when the opportunity to win such a prize arose, and I was eager to enter the contest.

You get to visit Vogue! Tell us how excited you were to find out you won the FNO contest.

I was ecstatic when I discovered I won this contest! I remember I was coming home from a bad day at school when my dad called to tell me I won—my parents were very much involved in rallying support from friends and family to garner votes—and it completely turned my day around. The feeling of winning such an incredible prize was just overwhelming, and it still feels very surreal up to now. Things like this don’t happen to normal girls my age, so I am obviously thrilled!

What do you think you'll wear when you visit Vogue?
