Today's interview is with
ℳshotpink♥ who has been a member on Polyvore for 3 years. She's won several Polyvore contests, including the
Style the Rebecca Minkoff Runway contest! Check out her amazing sets and learn more about this California girl.
Here are some of her sets:
Tell us about yourself.Hi, my name is Amy. I'm from Los Angeles, CA where I was born and raised. I'm a 21-year old chocolate addict who has 5 dogs (yes 5). I'm currently a college student majoring in business marketing and I hope to definitely work in the fashion industry someday.
What's the story behind your Polyvore name? The name ℳshotpink♥ started my freshman year in high school. One day I wore a very hot pink off-the-shoulder top to school and one of my friends said "Your shirt is hot," and I said "No, it's hot pink. Ms. hot pink." It was kind of like a James Bond joke, so that's where it came from.
How would you describe your sense of style?I think my sense of style is simple and chic. I love mixing different textures and mixing edgy pieces with feminine pieces. I think my sets reflect my everyday style minus the heels which I don't wear so often. I walk a lot in school so heels would kill my feet.
What's hot in your 'hood?Well in LA it's pretty warm out and the weather seems to change frequently, so I don't think anyone puts their summer clothes away completely. But I see a lot of girls wearing riding boots and knee high boots right now.
What's one thing you wish people would wear more of?I wish people wore more hats like back in the 40s. I think they add a sense of mystery and intrigue.
How did you discover Polyvore?I discovered Polyvore when I was looking for a picture of some shoes I wanted and the link magically led me to Polyvore and I haven't left since.
Tell us a little about what you use Polyvore for and why. What do you like about Polyvore?I use Polyvore as a creative outlet. With school and everything else it's fun to get creative and see the latest shoes or the next "it" bag. I wish I had a real "create" button around all the time.
If you could share one tip or trick with a new Polyvore member, what would it be?I would just say to be yourself and stay original.
Do you have a favorite fashion designer or style icon who has influenced you?Right now I really like Alexander Wang, I think his clothes and bags are simple but so creative and interesting at the same time. As for fashion icons, I love Audrey Hepburn. I think her style was just classic and timeless. Her style is even reflected today with her flats and over-sized sunglasses and of course the little black dress.
What are your 3 favorite sets of the ones you've made?
What's your favorite set created by another Polyvore member?
I really like this set! I love the whole layout and I would definitely wear this outfit in a heartbeat!!
Got any feature requests for the Polyvore team?
Not that I can think of. I think Polyvore is AMAZING just the way it is!
