Member Spotlight: edenslove

Today's member spotlight is on edenslove. She's a California girl who has been a member of Polyvore for two years. She usually sports a classic skinny-jean style, but you might not guess that from her elegantly feminine sets. Take a look:

Tell us your name, age, profession and what you typically wear every day.

My name is Sarah, I'm 29 years old and I am currently a stay-at-home mom. I'm going back to college in the fall. I typically wear comfy clothes at home while I'm with my daughter but my go-to outfit whenever I go out is always skinny jeans, boots/Toms and a sweater or a cute top with a cardigan/wrap.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?

I live in Orange County, California. We have so many different styles here. We have a lot of beach trends like flip-flops and shorts, even in the winter, but I tend to go with the non-beach types. I tend to dress up more. Toms, boots and skinny jeans are BIG here as well. Everyone wears them, especially Toms.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?

My favorite designers are Marc Jacobs and Rachel Roy. I've always been a fan of Marc Jacobs. He just really knows how to dress a woman. He understands our shapes and uses amazing fabrics and patterns to compliment our curves. I've been obsessed with his Stam bag for years but have not been lucky enough to own one yet. It's a dream of mine to have one. (Laughing) Rachel Roy on the other hand makes very sophisticated yet dreamy clothes for women. I say dreamy because her patterns, colors and fabrics are so soft and luxurious-looking. I admire her because she is a mom like me and a lot of the clothes she designs, I can see myself wearing. You may admire someone's creations but whether they are wearable in your everyday life is another story. My favorite brands, where I tend to shop, are Cotton On, H&M and Urban Outfitters. Cotton On is an Aussie clothing store that came here to the OC about two years ago, and I'm obsessed with their indie-type of clothing. H&M just has everything. Really when you need a cute shirt or a little dress on short notice you go to H&M, and you'll find it. Urban Outfitters is more of a quirky indie store with great brands and lovely styles/prints. I love that store. I could live inside it!

Which celebrity has great style?

I'm really inspired by Rachel Bilson and Sienna Miller's style. Rachel Bilson dresses a lot like I do. She tends to wear the skinny jeans with boots and a cute top. I love how she accessorizes with scarves! Scarves may be my favorite winter accessory. I adore how chic yet indie her style is. Sienna Miller can be chic as well but she is also boho, which I love. She just seems so free with her style, and I really admire her creativity. Especially those red boots. She actually got me to buy a pair of red Rayban sunglasses!

What are your personal aspirations/goals?

Since having my daughter I stopped working and was really trying to re-evaluate my life and what I wanted to do with it. I worked in banking for so long, and it just wasn't gratifying at all. I'm such a creative person that desk jobs doing non-fashion work was making me miserable. I went to school to learn how to sew, and I thought for sure I was going to go down the designer route. I bought a sewing machine and all the necessities for sketching my designs, and I loved it. It was a great hobby but my heart wasn't in it. I decided I would love to be a Fashion Graphic Designer. Can you guess why?

How has Polyvore affected your life?

I first found Poly when you were holding the Nordstrom Eclipse Premiere contest. I entered about ten sets. Those ten were my very first on Poly. They are seriously cringe-worthy. Ha ha, and I thought for sure I was going to win. Little did I know. I was working on the sets on my little net-book while on vacation at a relative's house out of state. When I got back home, I went online with our home computer and really got to see what Polyvore was about. Polyvore has become a daily thing for me. I can't even begin to express how it has changed my life. At first it was a hobby, but now it's become so much more. Because of Poly it has become so clear to me what I want to do as my profession. For that I will forever be grateful. Websites like No Rest For Bridget have used my sets to market their clothing. My sets have been featured on No Rest's blog and have been used in their "Shop By Looks" section on their website. It's just amazing that I found my career path. I'm going back to school in the fall to get my degree in Graphic Design and Business.

Describe your personal sense of style.

I am 100% a skinny-jean girl. I have so many pairs in different colors. I don't know what I will do when boot-cut jeans come back. I guess I will be the girl who won't let skinny jeans go out of style. I also adore my wraps and cardigans. I can throw them on over any outfit. I love boots! I wear them everyday. I own flat ones, knee boots, heeled boots, ankle boots, biker boots, lace boots, camel boots and rain boots. I'm obsessed! When I'm not in my boots I'm in my Toms. I wore Toms all summer long. Especially when I was taking my daughter to Disneyland. No outfit for me is complete without a long necklace with some type of charm at the bottom, my stud earrings, a sparkly ring and my black Raybans! I also have a nose ring so I have fun switching out my studs to match my outfits. Fashion is a huge part of my life and not for vanity reasons. Fashion to me is like math to an accountant. It's just an important part of what I do.

EdensLove, pursue what you want in life. If you are not satisfied with what you do today, try new ones that you surely want to do for a long time. I had the same experience, and I thank new moms support group ny for helping me cope with these situations.
