Member Spotlight: laynaelyse

Today's spotlight is on laynaelyse. She's new to Polyvore and has already won our Polyvore Live and COVER GIRL Present Celestino contest. We're flying her out to NY Fashion Week and sitting her front row at our very own Polyvore Live fashion show.  Here are some of her sets:

Love Is In The Air

We Make Our Own Fairytales

We Make Our Own Fairytales by laynaelyse featuring draped tops

Tell us your name, age, profession and what you typically wear every day.

My name is Layna Middleton, I am 26 years old and an operations manager at a bank, but I also teach computer classes at night.  I’ve worked at a bank since I was 16, working through business school.  Even though business was my chosen career, I’ve always loved art, computers and definitely have an interest in fashion.

Typically, my daily wear is formal business attire – pencil skirts, jackets/blazers or a blouse (which you’ll find in many of my sets).  Or sometimes I even do business casual – a skirt & top.

When I’m not in the business scene, I’m usually pretty casual.  I like vintage, earthy & just overall feminine looks.  But you will most always find me in heels!  I’m very well known for that with all of my colleagues & family/friends.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?

I live in a very small town in Southeastern Oklahoma.  I was raised in “the country” as most would say.  Even though it’s not the most fashion-forward place in the United States, I do love my roots.  The closest big city to me is Dallas (2.5 hours away), where I enjoy going shopping.  I’ve noticed over this winter season that riding boots have been a huge trend (I call them Peter Pan boots)…and yes, I had to get myself a pair also & I love them!

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?

My favorites cover a really broad range.  For casual I like Fossil’s line, but I also like Issey Miyake, Salvatore Ferragamo (love the bags!), Gianni Bini (love the shoes!), Jimmy Choo (shoes…), Michael Kors (everything), and many others.  I usually mix it up in my wardrobe.

Which celebrity has great style?
I love Kate Middleton’s style.  And no, it’s not just because we have the same last name!  She is chic and elegant.  I love the dresses and ensembles she puts together.  Kate always looks very classy and radiates confidence.

What are your personal aspirations/goals?

First and foremost I want to be a light and positive influence on everyone who crosses my path: family, friends, co-workers, acquaintances, etc.  I have always had the ambition to succeed, and I do enjoy my work in banking and teaching.  Aside from that, personally I would love to be able to grow my artistic side and be successful in that.

How has Polyvore affected your life?

Polyvore has brightened my life!  And I say that with all sincerity.  I joined Polyvore a mere one month ago and within that time I have had a difficult loss in my family.  Polyvore not only has given me this great experience, traveling to New York to express my artistic/fashionable side, but it has given me the chance to keep busy and maybe reach out to other people through my sets.   I try to get at least one set out a day, but due to my busy life, that isn’t always possible.  I am amazed at how many followers I have in such a short time and the kind words of congrats and encouragement they have given me.  I try my hardest to view and support my followers!

Describe your personal sense of style.

Personally, I would describe my style as modest & feminine.  I think the saying “less is more” would apply.  I try to show this throughout my sets.  I’ve even noticed with the fashion scene, that this is becoming a trend.  You will always find me in skirts, dresses and usually in heels!  I’m one of those people that will get “dressed-up” just to go to the grocery store.  It’s kind of like a good hair day…if I feel like I look nice, then it makes my whole day just that much better!
