Tell us your name, age, profession and what you typically wear every day
My name is Joanna and I’m 24 years old. I’m a financial analyst for an outsourcing corporation in Poland which, in turn, works with a company in the United States. I also study finance at university (final year!), and I’m about to get my degree. My style is usually classic and elegant, required in my job. Our company dress code is called “business casual” but on Fridays we use “smart casual”. This is why I wear dark trousers or a skirt, an elegant blouse and of course heels. I always have a blazer or cardigan with me. After work I like wearing comfy clothes like jeans, T-shirts and flats.
Where do you live, and what trends are big there?
I live in Katowice (5 years now) but originally I come from a small town near the Polish/Ukrainian border. I have to say that there is a difference in people’s style here versus there. In Katowice people wear almost everything. You can meet strange and original individuals who wear whatever they want even if it breaks the standard. In my hometown people wear simple, usual clothes. I think that it is connected with the fact that it is a small town and nobody wants to “break the rules”.
What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?
I don’t have just one favorite designer. For me it’s about fit and comfort. I never buy things because of the brand or designer. If it comes to shoes I adore Christian Louboutin's heels. I also support our local designers.
Which celebrity has great style?
Hmm… I would say Blake Lively, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Aniston and Emma Watson. Blake’s outfits are my inspirations when creating new sets. Charlize’s style is comfy and elegant, Jennifer usually wears clothes which are classy and simple at the same time and Emma’s style is so fresh and girly.
What are your personal aspirations/goals?
My first goal is to be a writer in a stock exchange newspaper or financial magazine (e.g. Forbes) and the second one is to live in Australia for at least 5 years. It’s not connected with fashion, but I treat fashion like an inseparable part of my life (my tagline on Polyvore: “the world is my runaway"). My Polyvore goal is to get into Polyvore’s daily top sets.
How has Polyvore affected your life?
I started creating sets on Polyvore just for fun and it became a hobby for me. Now I try to make a new set everyday. I think that Polyvore changed the way I perceive fashion. A few years ago it didn’t matter what I wore. But then I started to discover new styles and I noticed that my style also changed.
How would you describe your set style?
Well… my set style is still changing, but there are some constant parts of creating. I always put a few pictures (mostly from various scenes of everyday life), and then the process of choosing clothes, accessories and beauty products starts. I usually use a two-color combo or sometimes more. Now I have a new way of naming new sets: lyrics from songs.
Describe your personal sense of style.
My style is classy and simple. I like to wear colorful blouses and I really love to wear jeans. My wardrobe contains a lot of blazers and elegant tops. I also like to add some jewelry or other accessories to my everyday outfits and I think that good makeup is obligatory.
