Member Spotlight: kerenb

Today's member spotlight is on kerenb, member of 5 years. Her personal style is glamorous and wearable just like her sets. Here are few of her favorite sets.
Cute style
Styling look : Cate Blanchett
3.1 Phillips Lim + Roy Lichtenstein

Tell us your name, age, profession and what you typically wear every day (anything you’d like to
share).
I'm Keren Batista, not Karen! I'm 27 years old. I work as a journalist in a magazine, but with marketing and advertising. Most of the time I like to dress comfortably, basic pieces of clothing and ballet shoes. For the night, I'm more into eclectic style.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?
I live in Panamá (Central America). Right now tropical prints are the “must-have”. Also skinny jeans in bold colors are very popular.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?
Mmmm, difficult question! I have so many. Valentino has that feminine touch every woman
loves. But Marni, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Kenzo, Diane Von Furstenberg, Rebekah Minkoff, Alice + Olivia
and Carven are brands that I always find very attractive.

Which celebrity has great style? What do you like about their style?
Rachel Bilson because she knows how to look casual, chic and very glamorous.

What are your personal aspirations/goals?
I'd like to work in communications.

How has Polyvore affected your life?
Oh, Polyvore is my push to work hard for clothes. I love to work with creativity, and this is like a canvas for virtual artist!

How would you describe your set style?
Glamorous, wearable and a mix of things.

How often do you sign on and what is the first thing you do when you sign on?
Before my life got so complicated I used to visit Polyvore every day! Right now, I enter like three times per week to check what is happening.

Describe your personal sense of style.
¡Complicado! I have my “seasons." Sometimes my sense of style is oriented around colors like orange, yellow, purple... And also my style is very close to the 70’s with a touch of modernity.

Tell us your name, age, profession and what you typically wear every day (anything you’d like to share).
My name is Michelle Kye and I am a sophomore at a college based in Philly. I love wearing skirts and dresses the most with some kind of jewelry. And black and white. Because that's a no-fail combination.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?
During the school term, I live in Philadelphia. There are always skinny jeans and some oversized chunky scarfs. To be honest, I don't really pay much attention to the outside world. I am holed up at school most of the time, so I can't accurately say what the trends are in the city. At school, of course there are all types of styles. I like when girls wear printed dresses, maxi skirts, and unique handmade jewelry.

Describe your personal sense of style.
I just always say my style is eclectic. I will wear girly dresses and skirts with heels, skinny jeans with a pleather vest and studded boots, tutus, and printed kaftans I buy in the U.S.

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?
It's really hard to pick one designer, but if I had to pick one it would be the Proenza Schouler duo,  Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. The line has a very sporty and simple feel to it and I could see myself wearing so many items. Jack and Lazaro have also come up with great handbags like the PS1 bag that I don't think I will ever get tired of seeing.

Which celebrity has great style? What do you like about their style?
I like Clémence Poésy's style. I think her outfits are very chic and simple and I love the fact that she is a natural beauty and doesn't cover her face with makeup. Clémence also wears a lot of black and white and neutrals, and still stands out. She is classy and makes me realize you can look sexy and amazing while still being modest.

What are your personal aspirations/goals?
My goal is to have my own fashion line (which probably won't happen till I am 30-something) designing jewelry and clothes and accessories, of course. Also, I would just like to be a happier and more positive person that people can enjoy being around. I'd like to be better at talking!

How has Polyvore affected your life?
When I first started using Polyvore, I did not really have a sense of fashion or of what I liked. But after seeing people's sets and using fashionable items and photos people have saved from the internet, I think I was able to find my style. It made me realize I really do like fashion and clothing. There are a lot of nice people on Polyvore. And it's nice when I find members that have the same interests as I do, and make sets from their interests (ahem K-Pop). It's also nice when I find members that have an amazing sense of style that I can get inspired by (and that also show me more amazing items to save on top of the thousands I have already saved over the past 5 years).

How would you describe your set style?
I think my set style evolved from framing one photo with items to now creating an actual outfit with the clothing and accessories always on the top of the set and the shoes always at the bottom like a real person would wear it. I might describe my sets as a simplified collage possibly. I still approach or hit the 50-item limit, but I feel like my set style is a bit more simplified than, say, a year ago, and I'm really making outfits that I would want to wear in real life.

How often do you sign on and what is the first thing you do when you sign on?
To be honest, I don't ever really "sign on" to Polyvore, I am always logged on to Polyvore. The first thing I usually do is look at the activity and see the new sets that have been uploaded and for the most part, saving items. There isn't a time on Polyvore that I don't save at least 10 new items/photos. It is impossible.

Got any requests for the Polyvore team?
Can you please increase the number of items per set to at least 60? Maybe it is not possible. Because of my indecisiveness and inability to just choose the items I want to put into a set, it is so hard when I get a notice saying I am almost at the 50 item limit.

What is your favorite Polyvore feature?
My favorite Polyvore feature would have to be between the "Colors" (love that you can control the the opacity of the color and frame photos) and the "Music" feature where you can post songs right next to your sets. Oh and also the rotation button, most definitely the rotation button. Sorry that was three features, I am very indecisive.

Tell us your name, age, profession and what you typically wear every day (anything you’d like to share).
I'm Jill and I'm a master's student in fashion design at AAU, San Francisco.  I'd like to freelance, once I graduate, for couture fashion houses.  I see fashion as art.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?
I'm from the San Francisco area, born and raised for the most part.  Its can be difficult to describe your street style when you're just living it day to day. S.F. style is up-to-the-minute fashion, but not trendy.  We like colors and prints, but with all that fog, we're definitely not over the top.  We like to surprise you, but looking like we're cool, as if we didn't try too hard.  We're versatile, running from day to night.  We dress in layers.  You don't always know if the fog is rolling in or out.  Even if we'd love to wear a lot more full mini skirts, it's always windy in the city.  We're classic, yet quirky and can rub elbows with Paris and New York.  We don't flash gold.  We're not shiny.  However, we do all say, "Have a good day!"

What is your favorite brand/designer? What do like about that brand?
I've maintained for years that the design house, Chloé, seems to get me.  Maybe its that boho vibe and its dreamy, quirky separates.  There are so many impressive fashion houses right now and it feels confining to say that I have one favorite.

Which celebrity has great style? What do you like about their style?
I don't follow celebrity style much.  I follow the houses that influence their styles more.

How has Polyvore affected your life?
I think Polyvore is such an incredible place.  Everybody is so encouraging and has been so inspirational too.  My set styles, much to my own surprise, have changed quite a bit from year to year. Although I use Polyvore mainly for fun, it has definitely helped me to become a better designer and to know my own inner style better.  If you look at some of my favorite sets, maybe you'll get a sense of this.  I want to applaud Polyvore for the various sponsor-driven contests and I hope that you will continue.  I think this is such an amazing opportunity for all creative types of people to grow and aspire.

Got any requests for the Polyvore team?
I'd personally like to see "doll" sets to receive more recognition.  These can be very difficult to make and they usually include fashion items. Have Polyvore-editorial and Polyvorebloggernetwork featured much more.  There's a lot of fun stuff going on there, but I usually forget to look for it. To be able to organize my "closet" according to color.

Tell us your name, age, profession and what you typically wear every day
Hi, my name is Iva, and I'm 26 years old. I've just finished university, and I'm trying to find a nice job in public relations, fashion or design: something interesting and creative. I have a lot of creativity and can't imagine my life without it. My everyday style is simple, minimalistic, usually black or white clothes with colored shoes and bags, and some cool statement necklace or ring.

Where do you live, and what trends are big there?
I live in Croatia. In the last year, people have really started to play with fashion here, more than ever. You can find very nicely dressed people in the street, but also there are still so many people without any sense of style. This spring/summer floral prints are so popular, as are asymmetric skirts and dresses. Statement necklaces, simple clutches in all colors and rings are big too.

What is your favorite brand/designer?
I'm a huge huge fan of bags, and my favorite designers are always designers with perfect bags, like Proenza Schouler, Celine. I crave them. Would like to have them in all colors, every model!

Which celebrity has great style?
I don't have just one fashion icon. Love to follow all the street style as well as some fashion blogs, they are a big inspiration.

What are your personal aspirations/goals?
To find a creative job, to learn some new language, maybe Spanish or French. I'd like to travel more, to spend more time with my friends.

How has Polyvore affected your life?
It's a place where I can have all the clothes that I've always wanted to have. But it's also a place where I meet wonderful girls. Such good friends, they are my inspiration here, and their beautiful words mean so much to me. I'm always happy when I see that someone really looked at my set, imagining how it looks on the real person.

How would you describe your set style?
My sets are really simple, something like my own style, just more expensive. Basic items, cool accessories. The focus is always on accessories, some cool shoes and bags, and for the final touch, some nail polish and a piece of jewelry. Usually it's a ring or statement necklace. I'm so in love with them.

How often do you sign on and what is the first thing you do when you sign on?
Daily. When I'm on the internet, I always check what is new here, what my friends created, what is new with my sets. Sometimes I have so much inspiration that I create several sets, save them in drafts and publish them in days when I don't have any inspiration. Because of that, I have new sets almost every day.

What is your favorite Polyvore feature?
Everything is great. I like the crop option, sometimes I can create my own item from something else.
