New Following Page Design

Dear Polyvore Community,

We recently added items in your Following page, and we’ve heard from many of you who enjoy this new way to learn about your friends’ style. We’ve been working to make this even better, and have made some changes based on your feedback:
New Following Page Design

  • We’ve included more items on the page so you can discover more of the products your friends love.

  • The items are now smaller so that sets and collections are easier to see.

  • Newly clipped items will not show up in the Following page right away. However, these are still public, and people can still find them on your Profile page.

If you're looking for a way to see just sets and collections from the people you follow, you can use the Creations filter.

Try it out and let us know what you think!

Love,
The Polyvore Team

honestly, the new feed page is okay... but i don't think EVERYONE enjoys looking at what others save as their items. specially when one's saves a lot of items all the time.
i'm not saying to change it, but i mean it's my opinion, though.

Anonymous said...

It will take some getting used to. I really just want to see what people have made and sets they've liked. Not ads and item likes. Sometimes I choose the just creations setting but then you miss out on people you may not be following.

Nikell (Modestyfashions on Polyvore) said...

I love the new design! I saw it on my tablet a few days ago and was wondering when it would show up on my laptop. I also like how newly clipped items don't show up right away. That give me time to use them before anyone else does. (^_^)

Ps. I really liked the old way of editing when we had the option of editing the whole set or just the description.

Anonymous said...

I think you should change it to where you first see the creations. I for one don't enjoy seeing items and so i think it should be another option to see items. it's to much to everytime change to the creations.
And I believe it looks messy and crowded

PLEASE I WANT THE ANDROID APP. I don't have so much time and I love create sets and collections.

Anonymous said...

I absolutely hate the new design. While some people might find it helpful, I dislike seeing other people's items. That's un - needed if you ask me. Other then that? The design isn't all that bad.

Anonymous said...

I agree, I don't care to see item likes at all - just uses my memory to scroll through it all! Not that my or anyone's opinion matters anyways...Tons of people disliked the hastags & wanted regular tags back & that hasn't happened, so why should this be ant different?? What's the point of being able to give feedback if the majority of the suggestions are never listened nor met??

Anonymous said...

This is one of my favorite changes the site has made! I really like!!! Good job Polyvore!

Anonymous said...

I still really want a way for me to have a choice to only see art sets (or fashion sets or interior design) on the following or creations page. The sheer amount of sets that the fashion set people posts makes it so that I miss a lot of the art sets. It would be great (nay legendary!) if I could just click something and see only art sets then click another thing and see only fashion sets and that way I won't miss a single thing and won't feel overwhelmed.

Anonymous said...

the design is ok,little better more space to hart the set and not actually open it on new page if you mised it for a bit.items are so unnessesery, don't need them at all,I can find by myself what ever I want.you should make items in profile private, everyone looks there and just take other peoples ideas, not fair at all.

Anonymous said...

it's a bit boring to see what others save as items..but it looks fine...I guess :)

Great changes!

Anonymous said...

Don't really like, not as structured or neat..

Sherrie said...

its okay I guess. It'll just take a while to get used to and then everyone will just be used to it.
:p #notbad

Anonymous said...

It will definitely take some time to to get used to it. It's not that it's necessarily a bad change, but not a great one either. I think there is a lot that could be done with Polyvore and seeing everyone's likes really isn't one of them. If I wanted to do that, I could just visit their page. I have found some really neat items to save though, so that's good, and props to making them smaller than the sets though. Work on it not being so cluttered and this could be a really awesome feature.

anahitaundiliii said...

I am not fond of this idea, it is confusing. Also, I agree with anon about the privacy of items. It should still be up to the user if they want to have their items showing up.

Also, sets don't need to be larger! Items need to be larger, I have enough trouble seeing them. And so do others, regardless of contacts or glasses or none.

Polyvore, you were great the way you were about 5 days ago. You need to QUIT CHANGING THINGS! HAVEN'T YOU EVER HEARD OF THE SAYING "LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE"? IT'S NOT A MYTH. It works pretty effectively. Especially when well enough was really cool. I don't like any of these changes. I hate hashtags, and I miss regular old tags. You could AT LEAST bring back regular tags, and let people choose which one to use-hashtags or tags. I, along with many others, would choose tags. I don't like the new design of the following page, either. I didn't even like seeing other people's items. I'll find my own items to like, thank you very much. Sure, some of them are cool, but there's no need for you to help us with that. We can manage; we had been, until you changed that. PLEEEEEAAAASE, change the following page design to the way it used to be, and let us use regular tags again!!!!! Of course, you never listen to the comments or take our feedback seriously. You just continue to make stupid changes. Sorry, but it's the truth.

Could someone please PM me and explain what is the purpose of the "Attach a set or item" feature? I had some friends attach different things to my sets, but when they do, I only get a notification that they commented, and then I still see NOTHING that they attached, whether it was a set or an item. What is the point of this, and how do we even access what they have attached?? Thanks in advance...

Anonymous said...

I still dont like how it shows the items people save. it gets really annoying when people save items a lot and completely flood the sets out... :/ I like looking at all creations from likes to the originals, but NOT saved items... I could look in their Archive for that..
~MY Opinion~

I think having multiple tabs on the following page would help. Seperate tabs for sets, collections and items. Items tend to clog up the page, especially if all you want to do is like sets. There should be a choice to keep some items private (like pinterest does) as well. I'd like to be the first one using the items I find outside Polyvore (since I'm the one spending time scouring the internet) Another suggestion is about editing sets and contests. I've noticed that any modifications made to a set after entering a contest does not stick (the changed set appears on your profile page, but remains the same on the contest page) updating contests on the edit page should also be changed (as in the days-weeks) for example:if I update the number of trophies into the 2nd day of the contest, after the update, the contest goes back to the original number of days instead of updating from where you left of. These are just a few suggestions of what can improve on Polyvore. Thank you for keeping the disgruntled masses happy though. We do realise that Polyvore can't keep everyone happy.

Hate it with a passion!! I am sick of taking the time to search for items and then having others take what I found, instead of looking for things themselves. This is happening more and more since this change was made. Worse they use the items I found before I get the chance to and it makes it look like I copied from them. They need to do the searching themselves, this new feature only makes it easy for others to be lazy and shop my page and items. Please change it back!! Also needed is a block feature, so I can block people I don't want seeing my sets. Blocking them from commenting is worthless, I want to block them completely!! Thank you!!

Anonymous said...

I don't want to discover more of the products my friends love. I love to discover their SETS. NOT PRODUCTS!!! and now when I save some products for my new sets or download new pics and want to use them first, people save the same products and pics create the sets with my ideas before me :/ noooo, I don't like it.

Anonymous said...

I don't think the new layout is too terrible, but it does seem too erratic and confusing for me. I think a more orderly, structured layout would be easier to use - for example, having large icons for sets as the main part of the page, and then having one column on the side for items. It would be much easier to navigate.

Anonymous said...

ALSO, I have sent a message to Polyvore before about blocking, and was told that it is currently impossible to block someone from tagging you. A lot of the time, asking them to stop is not enough. PLEASE introduce a new feature that allows you to block being tagged by particular people!
Thanks

Why are you trying to fix things that aren't broken? I, for one, really hate the new design. It's confusing, and the different thumbnail sizes make it difficult to concentrate on the whole page. Also, the collection previews are not helpful at all. One massive item and five tiny ones? No, that's not how it should be. How about you make the new layout optional? Polyvore has been getting increasingly inconvenient to use.

Anonymous said...

I like the new design.

Anonymous said...

The desing is great but I have to agree with others who don't like seeing what itmes others have saved. I don't really see why it's neccessary

caddow said...

This is way too confusing with the items next to the sets. Plus it takes ages to scroll down like said in the comments below.

Anonymous said...

I don't like this at all :(

Anonymous said...

While I can appreciate updates & progress, I have to agree with the others that the new layout is confusing & clogs up one's feed. Do not like the fact that users item likes are out in the open. I would LOVE to have the OPTION of keeping the item tab PRIVATE. I spend a considerable amount of time & energy bringing items to the library. It is always a concern that others will take my ideas before I have a chance to create a set with it. It doesn't seem fair & takes the fun out of Polyvore. Thank you.

Anonymous said...

nice change! :D but it's abit harder now to see all the new creations of the people i follow.. PLUS the saved items issue :/ xx

Jorunn said...

I would like to be able to filter so that I only see creations of people I follow, I miss that feature.
Also, I love the Polyvore iPhone app, but please can you make one for my android friends as well?
AND Polyvore for iPad please!

Jorunn said...

Sorry, I just found that you did not remove the filter function! My bad.

Ellie said...

I honestly find the feed page slightly annoying and is one of the things I think Polyvore could do without. My reply: Bof!

Anonymous said...

I like the tabs idea. I don't mind seeing items as long as they aren't just fashion items. I think the page is messy looking. I guess people should have an option to keep others from rummaging through their items. I don't mind it, but I know some do.

Anonymous said...

Is it necessary to see every items
others save. I am using Polyvore less and less because of some of the changes and this is one of them. Please everything allow. It was working.

Anonymous said...

Hi, I don´t like that you can´t see the title of the set or the collection and I think that´s important to be shown and maybe the new design seems a a little more messy that the before one. However, thanks a lot for this awesome site, it´s really awesome

To be honest, I don't like the new 'landing page' at all. It's messy. It's confusing. It's unnerving.

I come to polyvore to relax. I like to see 'polyvore' news when I sign on. New sets; New Contests; Fashion news. If I want to see what my friends are doing, I used that choice freely. I dislike it being forced upon me. I dislike the 'mess' on the first page.

If you are intent on making changes, my suggestion would be to work on improving the 'editor'. There is so much that could be improved upon ...

It's so cluttered and busy, not good. I don't want to see other peoples items, just their set. Also I prefer to know who made the sets not just who liked them. I'm really not comfortable with complaing as I know and appreciate how hard the staf work and this is a free service, but I can't work with this new design. Sorry!

Anonymous said...

I agree with the multitude of comments that don't like the items. I don't want to see them and it takes too much time and memory to scroll through everything to keep up with my friends and followers sets. I for one can no longer keep up. I've been an active user for three years and have more than 11,000 followers, but am getting very tired of the emphasis being more and more on selling product instead of expressing creativity. I can't afford (or fit into, or find in my country) the vast majority of these products and the focus on selling and promoting cheap knock-off websites is REALLY starting to frustrate me. I'm also sick and tired of having to answer multiple emails every week of companies that want me to "promote" their products/websites!
I also am frustrated by people taking my items before I have a chance to use them or taking almost everything from a set. I prefer NOT to know because then it makes me paranoid that I'm being copied...
Would love to be able to filter for type of set (art, fashion, interior design) and see only those. LOOSE the ads - put them on a PV homepage - not on our "following" page - just don't have the time to waste when I'm not interested in using this site to buy clothes!
thanks for your patience in reading this ;-)

Polyvore ~ Do not like the changes... of seeing items others have clipped. Nor do I like others seeing my items before I have a chance to make something with it. If I want to share my items I will put in a collection. Seems Items duplicate also. How about being able to clip on Ipad, also add colors as a chose for creating on ipad

I dont really like the change it starts to annoying after a while. I definatly agree with most of these comments.

Anonymous said...

I honestly do not like this new feature at all! I save a lot of items all of the time and then all my followers save all my items! I feel like they are taking a bit of my style. I'm not meaning to sound arrogant but in all honesty, it is quite annoying!!

It would be so much nicer if there was a tab for sets and one for items.

Anonymous said...

I find it takes up way too much time to look at others sets now. I really don't care what items other people like, I have my own, and find plenty on my own. I think (my opinion) you should do away with putting all of that on the page. I just want to scroll through and see others creations. Having all the item likes from everyone makes it too much....and way too long to get through it. Please do away with having to see everyones item likes, :-) Other than that I think its great. Thank you.

Blech, don't like it. Too messy. I hit the site and want to cruise quickly, not be inundated by a lot of noise. It's like Walmart now. No thank you

Anonymous said...

i hate it...itÅ› confused and too messy...

Jane said...

I think this new design is to messy and it distracts peoples attention away from the sets. I wish you would have left the page alone it was fine as it was.

Anonymous said...

okay, i don't get it. the MAJORITY of these comments express a dislike with items being displayed in the stream. But you guys claim this is something that the majority of us want.

ultimately, you guys will do whatever you want and whatever will sell product. you say that you listen to us and that our opinion is important but you know that all of our complaining really doesn't matter.

here are somethings i want to see:

1. the option to block someone from seeing my sets.

2. the option to have items privatized (cannot be seen by others).

3. make it impossible for someone to like something from a set without liking the set first. or maybe have a friendly message that pops up that says "hey, you liked a lot of items in this set, don't forget to heart the set!"

i'm sick of people copying my sets, ideas, and style.

i've unfollowed so many people who have ransacked my items or habitually liked my items without liking my sets. Maybe you could make a post about polyvore etiquette? there are some majorly inconsiderate people on here.

Gypsy Kolleen said...

For me it looks pretty, but it is very distracting. I was so happy to find the creations filter today. But I haven't figured out yet if you have done away with the daily top sets collections. I haven't found them for a couple days since the change appeared, and that was my source for items to inspire.

Anonymous said...

I could probably get used to it, but I'm not overly fond of it. Even with the filters it seems messy and harder to locate particular sets. Like I said, I could probably live with it eventually, but I think it's another bad decision on top of previous bad decisions.

I understand that Polyvore needs to adapt and change to keep an audience, but it might just be too much all at once.

Anonymous said...

I like the new design page but it looks much crowded with items more than sets. I have read others commments and I agree with them that we really (not that) care to see others items being liked.

taylor-darling said...

i hate it. it's too hectic, and i don't think it's what people were really looking for. it's too scattered and confuses me.

Anonymous said...

i really don't like this it's annoying and confusing.
It was good the way it was

Anonymous said...

I have tried to keep an open mind, but after several days, I have to say I find the items VERY DISTRACTING when I'm trying to view sets or collections that others have liked.

I have nothing against the sharing of items, but why not make it its own separate option so that those who want to see them can, but they are not forced on those of us who don't?

Just my two cents.

Why not a app for android not everyone has a iphone

Judi Easley said...

I don't care for the new page design. It is visually unappealing with things all different sizes and sets and items all mixed in together. I really don't feel the need to see all the items my friends have LIKEd and set aside to work with. That gives away future surprises. Thank heavens I have the app...don't mess with it, please.

Anonymous said...

Ok people- please remember, Polyvore is not just a place to play- it's a buisiness! In order to stay in business, so you can make your sets and have fun, Polyvore needs to sell items. In order to sell items they need to show/feature items. Please, polyvore has been very accommodating to its members, don't be so pushy, geesh. (polyvore user)

Not a fan of the new page at all..I know y'all need to sell clothes, but honestly..I just want to see my friends' sets!! And I agree with the poster above about people taking items from our sets. I think there should be a limit..like they can only take 3 items from one set and only so many items can be taken from another's set per day. It's just unfair that people can take & take & take and don't even have the courtesy to "like" the set. I wish you guys would listen to the members and take some of these things into consideration. I love POlyvore, but these changes are making the experience less enjoyable.

Anonymous said...

I sort of enjoy seeing other people's items but it takes away from seeing my friends sets. I don't know if its just me but I am getting less likes. Not that its really that important. I liked the idea about the tabs. One with collections, one with sets, and one with items. It seems like a really organized way of doing it. Also please give androids the polyvore app. Not all of us have iphones!

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure if the new layout I'm seeing this evening is an attempt to "fix" the messy opinion a lot of people have already mentioned here, but it's now worse! The top is completely redundant, the sectioning is unnecessary and quite frankly it is yet another change that makes Polyvore more difficult to navigate.

I can usually adapt to change and I do understand Polyvore's reasons for it, but I'm losing my interest and I've heard other users express the same opinions. Too many changes all at once.

Anonymous said...

I do not like the new design at all. I'm not a fan of the fact you can see what people saved.

Anonymous said...

I agree with Most the comments. Seems like the things we like the most about Polyvore keep changing and more and more are unhappy about it. You keep making it more about the dollar than about the consumers who come to design and or spend money through this site. What kind of image do you think you are putting out there about yourselves? Stop making unnecessary changes and fix the problems people are having with the site. Listen to the consumers.

I seriously hate the new polyvore I still like to use this site but it is confusing I miss the old polyvore. Why on earth would I want to see peoples save items and who's saved some of the items I've saved in my activity It takes up so much space in my activity. Polyvore didn't need to upgrade it was fine the way it is it just looks stupid and that's a fact and opinion. But other than that, I'm glad you added the hashtag thing

i dont really like the new setup of the news feed page. i personally dont appreciate looking at all of the items that my followers like. i would like to just look at the sets of the people i follow instead of there items. im not on Polyvore as much as i usually was before the change and i loved the old setup more. overall i was sort of confused with the setup and just wish they would go back to when it was simple. although the world grows in technology doesnt mean it is the right direction. as for me i would have to give a thumbs down for the new setup.

I don't really like the new option to save every individual item that someone likes or uses. Some people are copy-cats and tend to 'steal' sets... this just speeds up the process of stealing. Being original is hard to do when everyone is using your items.
