Removing Pinterest Quick Share Feature

Dear Polyvore Community,

We know that many of you love using Pinterest to share your style, and that you inspire many more people when they find and repin your sets. That's why we made it as easy as possible for you to pin all of your sets and likes from Polyvore.

However, this week Pinterest asked us to remove these features until they have an official API because sharing your Pinterest password and login with any other website is a security risk.

We respect Pinterest’s decision (we don’t want your accounts hacked either!), but unfortunately this means you will no longer be able to directly connect your Pinterest account.

You can still pin any set or item using the "Pin It" button or the bookmark in your browser.

We hope you'll follow us on Pinterest and keep pinning the great things you find and create here on Polyvore!

Love,
The Polyvore Team

Oh man this stinks!!! I understand and no one is to blame but man I loved this feature. It made me get loads of followers and re-pins! Maybe soon they can figure it out!!

Wow first the ask section, and then the Pinterest quick share, which I guess isn't your fault, but it still sucks. Polyvore just seems to keep getting worse.

So, is this a temporary change?

I don't see the big deal. It's still easy enough to 'pin' things from polyvore on pinterest. Plus it was pinterest who asked polyvore to remove it, not the other way around.

I agree...we can still pin using the Pin It button or the button on your browser, which most Pinterest users have installed so they can pin images from anywhere...so why complain, especially as SavageDamsel said, Pinterest made this request. I love using Polyvore!

I loved to use the Pinterest quick share, but I also respect their decision. I believe it is the responsible thing to do.

Exactly, @Jacqueline. Complaining over the pinterest share removal (which again, pinterest asked to have taken away)seems a bit overblown. Pinnning your polyvore sets/whatever is still really easy. No real problem there.

Do ya'll know how tragic this is. I don't get on pinterest at all like...ever but I was getting more follower and repins because I was able to post stuff directly from Polyvore :( the inconvenience is a major set back in my master plan. I hope they make this option available again in less then a week or two.

this sucks i just got a Pinterest and was really looking forward to using it for Polyvore :(

It's still a simple few clicks to login into pinterest and put up your polyvore sets... I think people have become really lazy, and that's the real compliant. Because #1. It's not polyvore's idea to remove the 'share' option. #2. You can still pin things from polyvore to pinterest same as always. #3. If it's a security risk, you're better off without the option. #4. If you don't have the time to login to pinterest why do you care how many 're-pins/followers' you're getting? It's nit-picky to be howling over this minor issue, which really doesn't change anything of import.

Hoping this is just temporary....

Ah, it's not a biggy ~ we still have the bookmark 'pin it' button :)

I've been using the "Pin it" button just out of habit anyways :)

This is unfortunate:( I have a Pinterest account and I used it all the time.

Awh... :( Stinks that we can't connect them, but at least it's not much work hitting the "Pin It" button. Thanks for looking out for our safety, Pinterest and Polyvore. It's much appreciated!

I think its okay... you can still pin your sets and items manually to Pinterest.

PS Dear Polyvore please fix the followers counter bug. On my profile it says I have 199 followers, and its been 199 for over a month even though I received at leas 50 notifications of new followers in the past 4 weeks. The followers count just does not update anymore.

... unfortunately I can't do it manually on my iPad...
