Introducing the Polyvore Style Insider Program!

Dear Polyvore Community,

Today we’re introducing our brand new Style Insider program, designed for our most active, creative members who express their style on Polyvore daily! Style Insider rewards you for all that you create. More sets equal more perks!

You could cover Coachella or Fashion Week as our Community Correspondent, go to a Polyvore Meetup or get access to exclusive contests and gifts. Plus, only insiders will get exclusive Polyvore tips and tricks.

Introducing the Polyvore Style Insider Program!

So, how do you become a Style Insider? Here’s the scoop:

Earn a badge Twice a year (January and July), we’ll look at how many sets you’ve created over the previous six-month period. You’ll receive a badge on your profile based on your set creation.

  • Style Spotters have created 2-24 sets, Style Setters have created 25-124 sets and Style Icons have created 125 or more sets.

If you’ve qualified to be a Style Insider, you’ll see a shiny new badge on your profile today. (Yay! Congrats, by the way!) Every Style Insider, no matter the level, gets a monthly Insider Newsletter to get the scoop on what's happening at Polyvore.

Earn perks Each level unlocks your eligibility for new perks. Want to level up for more perks? You can reach the next Style Insider level as soon as you create enough sets. But remember to keep up the creativity and follow our community guidelines! It is possible to lose a level as we check in twice a year (January and July), so keep on creating!

Find out more about the program by visiting the Style Insider page.

Love,
The Polyvore Team

This is THE BEST idea! It's totally going to motivate me to make more sets! This is going to be my 8th year on Polyvore (I'm obssessed ) but I definitely don't make sets as frequently as I used to. I can't wait to get to Style Icon status :)

This is a really good idea. It gets people to make more sets and try achieving these ranks. I noticed after I made a set, that it said "Style Setter" in blue with a diamond. It was under my name and I got so excited about it. I'll make more sets and sooner I'll become Style Icon. I hope ;)
Polyvore is the best site to express my style in clothing and other things!

Man, if this were fours years ago I probably would have a style icon rank. None the less this is a nice incentive to promote participation and make everyone feel special.
Of course, and this is sorta addressed in the faq, there is the potential for abuse, as in users making 125+ none sense sets just to achieve the rank.

I'm already a style setter and it says that if you are a style setter, you get to go to the meetups and stuff.. kinda unclear cause no one contacted me or something saying that i can go to the meet up in my city. Just saying.

I hate to be a debbie downer, but I have a few questions, How are the winners picked for receiving the gifts/prizes? I'm assuming it's not random, since you wouldn't foot the bill to fly someone somewhere if all they make are non-fashion text only sets. I'm guessing those people will be cherry picked and be people who make popular, trendy, and aesthetically pleasing sets. I wouldn't be surprised if they also end up being people who run popular blogs/vlogs/etc too. Wouldn't it just be better to hold contests instead of making the entire polyvore community feel like they have a shot at those prizes when they really don't? If the prizes aren't random, and it is based on who puts out the best content, that should be made clear. And how do the "lesser" gifts/prizes work, are those at least randomized to give everyone a fair shot? Are prizes only going to apply to people in the US (like most of the polyvore sponsored contests)?

It's an interesting idea, but I'm still having trouble seeing how this is ultimately going to work. All in-all it just seems like most people will end up with a newsletter featuring those videos you had members submit and that's about it.

Is it just the quantity or somehowe related to Top Sets, features?

A great idea! We love polyvore and creating sets. It gives us a chance to pair our accessories from our online boutique with other fashion items available on Polyvore to create beautiful sets that people could wear!

We love doing a weekly Friday feature of a polyvore set on our blog as well. Looking forward to seeing all the opportunities this new style insider program will bring!

This is...wow, what a silly idea. Anyone can make 125 crappy sets to get 'style icon' and they're doing it! PV- quality over quantity : so a 10 year old who has nothing to do all summer and makes enough sets has the privilege of attending one of your functions but a more mature member who may work full time and has a family and doesn't gave the time to make enough decent looking sets to meet the quota will be excluded. Great idea. Wow. Way to turn off a lot of decent members who may have a lot of other responsibilities and can't be on PV all day every day.

Anonymous said...

to be honest...i don't the like this. Many people just try to make as many sets as possible. They stop trying to make their sets better. It's just about getting enough sets to be a style and to get the prizes and I bet not everyone can get those prizes. I am pretty sure that this is just for polyvore members from the USA.

the prize is no Specific OPEN ENOUGH~@CHALLO

Polyvore would be much better if the polyvore team would STOP giving attention with top sets and features to members who have been reported MANY times for harassing other members, moderators, and for copying, raiding items, and bullying. NO, of course instead of getting rid of the trouble makers, polyvore makes sure to give them extra attention. How strange that you reward people for bad behavior. Polyvore get your act together and get RID of the trouble makers you have seen reported numerous times so the rest of us who follow the rules and just want to have fun can do just that without the bullies. Remember you are only making money because of your members so stop letting the bullies drive good members away and GET RID of the bullies now.
