Meet Our AW16 NYFW Community Correspondents!

New York Fashion Week officially kicks off this Thursday and we’re thrilled to announce this season’s Polyvore Community Correspondents. Meet Style Insiders kaitlyncostanzo and flawedparadise, twin sisters hailing from Pittsburgh, PA! They’ll be taking over our Snapchat on Feb 13, so be sure to follow Polyvore for a behind the scenes look at NYFW!

Get to know our correspondents:

Meet Kaitlyn (AKA kaitlyncostanzo

My name is Kaitlyn and I’m 21 years old. I’m from Pittsburgh and am currently a university student majoring in PR and Advertising. In the future, I hope to work in fashion and someday make a name for myself in the industry. I’ve always loved fashion, but it wasn’t until 2013 that I took my passion to the next level. I created my blog, The Layered Lineup, to express myself through fashion. I also use my blog to share my inspiration and connect with others in the community.

Your most anticipated AW16 collections? I look forward to Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Rebecca Minkoff, Jeremy Scott, and Tommy Hilfiger.

How do you plan to use Polyvore to keep up with fashion week? I will be making sets inspired by street style I see at NYFW. I will also be making sets inspired by trends I spot on the NYFW runways.

Anyone you're hoping to spot around NYFW? I would "fangirl" the most if I saw Bella Hadid. She's my biggest fashion inspiration at the moment.

What are your Fashion Week essentials?

Meet Arianna (AKA flawedparadise)

Hi, I’m Ari! I’m 21 years old from Pittsburgh, PA. I am currently a university student majoring in PR/Advertising. In the future, I plan to work in the fashion industry in any way that I can. Ever since I was a little girl I was always in touch with my creativity. I would constantly draw outfits and designs. Thanks to Polyvore, I can now share my style creativity in a different way.

What are you most excited to report back to the Polyvore community? I am most excited to show the Polyvore community all the new trends on and off the runway.

Your most anticipated AW16 collection(s)? I am very excited about Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Public School, Rebecca Minkoff, Nicholas K, & Jeremy Scott!

Anyone you're hoping to spot around NYFW? Sonya Esman of Class is Internal and the Hadid sisters.

What does your Fashion Week survival kit include?

Has there ever been a s/he of color that has be afforded this benefit? Just asking!!!

Anonymous said...

to be expected, how come you never let a person of color go?

Funny how these girls are almost the exact same, in every way. Not all twins are as similar as these two! And, even disregarding their similarities, seriously? Twins? At least get people who aren't connected by blood! Then there's the chance for networking and a new connection!

I think they're both really awesome. You can tell they both have different fashion styles. Kaitlyn is more laid back while Arianna seems to be more serious. But I'm really happy for them both! Hope to see amazing styled sets from them. :)

Are there ever opportunities for someone from the UK to correspond?

I am so happy for them (I follow both of them on Tumblr)! However, I just wonder when there will be diversity and a representation of ethnicities with regards to this site and the contests it offers.

I think it's wonderful to have two sisters as correspondents; very different, but yet very similar, unique, and they both represent each other in a great way. Great choice Polyvore!

That is so interesting and unique for the sisters as correspondents.

They ARE strikingly similar, but I think we all knew to expect young, white women to be chosen. (Is anyone genuinely surprised?) I still think we should congratulate them, and wish them well because it's not their fault. Have fun, ladies! :-)

Congratulations Girls. I am sure you both will have a good time and enjoy for me too. LOL.

I wish that people would stop making this to another Oscar issue. Polyvore would choose someone with a strong social media presence. They wouldn't pick a girl who has no fashion blog, instagram, twitter, or nothing. What would be the point in picking a girl that has 30 instagram followers or fake followers. Who would like their picture, their mom and dog??? The point of the correspondent is to report back to other polyvore people and also their followers which would bring new people to join polyvore. Maybe this year girls who applied that were of different race just didn't have enough social media presence. I've been on polyvore for a looong time. The past winners had like at most had 300 followers on instagram but they had fashion blogs they constantly updated. Maybe its cause yahoo bought them that they were pressure to pick someone with thousands of followers.

I knew that 1 of the girl would get picked for sure because couple of the past winners were all friends outside polyvore. Yeah its unfair they picked someone with your basic trendy style but that's just how it is. I'm just disappointed because the past winners seemed relatable and down to earth and they all had different backgrounds.I notice that polyvore doesn't care about whether you have bunch of followers on polyvore because the past winners barely broke a 1000. I wish they chose someone that puts effort into their sets instead of your usual put the shirt on the left and pants half way on the right and overlapping the shirt. I just hope that polyvore implement a guideline for the future when entering such as you have to have this amount of followers on social media. I hope polyvore notices that some of the past winners stop using polyvore as soon as they won. Ahem so I wouldn't be surprised if the girls stop using polyvore in couple months.
